Hello Brothers and Sisters,

My heart is like a roller coaster since I turned to Christ, feelings of Joy, Guilt, and Scepticism plague me every day. I don't doubt the salvation power of Christ, yet those thoughts of scepticism still creep in.

Why do I only feel the joy of salvation occasionally?
I don't have any un-repentant sin (as far as I know), yet sometimes my heart does get a bit weary, yet at other times exited and full of Joy. Is this part of the Christian walk, what does Gods word say about emotion related to salvation (if anything)?

God bless.

You aren't going to have that joyful feeling every moment of your life. We are still in these human bodies and we'll experience all types of feelings. Don't rely on a feeling to know whether you have salvation. Rely on the Christ who died on the cross for the forgiveness of your sins instead.

Proverb 23:7 For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.
Psalm 100:4 Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise.

Hey my brother you have to keep in mind we are a three part being with free will. Body (referrded to as flesh in the bible, but it can also mean our carnal nature), soul which is our mind, will and emotions (referred to as heart in the bible) and spirit which yours in now regenerated by the receiving of Jesus Christ as your Saviour. Now we are instructed in God's word to pray continually and meditate on the word of God and renew your mind to the mind of Christ. Also we as believers are told to put off the things of the flesh. Now keep in mind your are justified i.e., {free from blame} due to your receiving of Jesus' atonement on the cross for your sins. But the sactification i.e., {to make Holy, free from sin} of your flesh and mind are an ongoing process that isn't completly acomplished until we shed our corrupted flesh at death. Understand that the (your/our) spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. Matthew 26:41.

You have to "fight the good fight of faith". This was my big thing when I first came into the walk of the Spirit. Why isn't all of this stuff the Bible says seem to happening to me, or it's only happening when I'm at a meeting?

“Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.”
1 Tim 6:12

“Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the Kingdom of Heaven is greater than he. And from the days of John the Baptist until now the Kingdom of Heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.”
Matt 11:11-12

We take it from the enemy by force. We lay hold on eternal life. Of course God has already given it to us. We must walk by faith.

”And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end: That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.”
Heb 6:11-12

The whole current in this lower world is one of unbelief, sin, and hopelessness. There's a war going around all around us. Angels, deviils, the movement of the Spirit of God. The enemy seeks to deceive us by distracting us away from the things of God. If we do as Joshua did, we'll have the mind of an overcomer.

"This book of the Law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night,
that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest."
Josh 1:8-9

“According as His divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.”
2 Peter 1:3-4

“Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;”
2 Tim 1:6-8

“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.”
Rev 12:11

The blood and our testimony, and the willingness pour out our lives are attributes of an overcomer.

“If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.”
Col 3:1-3

"For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other."
Matt 6:21-24

“All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.”
1 Cor 6:12

“Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.”
1 Cor 9:24-27

“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
Heb 12:1-2

“Wherefore He saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;”
Eph 5:14-20

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”
Eph 6:11

“Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;”
Eph 6:13-18

“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
James 4:7

Fight the good fight against the enemy, and even your flesh. Become renewed in the spirit of your mind and put on the mind of Christ. You'll bear more fruit and not be distracted. Our feelings won't always agree, but we are to make our bodies and souls line up with the testimony of God and believe in His grace even when we don't feel like it.

The Bible tells us that we'll have cycles of ups and downs in many aspects of our lives as a Christian. Sometimes it's a fast roller-coaster like you are experiencing. Other times the ups or downs last longer. The book of Ecclesiastes teaches us about this, and helps to set proper expectations.

God's grace and mercy saves us from our sin, but does not remove our adversity. That's where the difference between happiness and joy comes in. Happiness is always temporary, but joy comes from a deeper place that comes from confidence in our future - not enjoyment of the here and now. That's why people in horrible wartime conditions, slavery, or poverty can still have joy.

Faith isn't based on feelings. Here is how the scripture defines faith:

Heb 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Why do we believe that God is real? Because God has revealed Himself to us personally and supernaturally transformed our lives. The evidence of your faith is a changed life, and the substance is your love for Jesus Christ. When you received the Holy Spirit, God sealed you with a promise of eternal life. We must have faith in this because we are still carrying this flesh around, but we know that we can trust God, and He gave us the Holy Spirit as a guarantee.

Receiving the Holy Spirit proves that every word of scripture is true. Jesus said that when He was standing at the right hand of the Father, triumphant, having conquered sin and the grave, He would send the Holy Spirit to everyone who believes in Him. You received the Holy Spirit, therefore it logically follows that His words are true. If His words are true, the whole scripture is true because Jesus confirmed the entire narrative of the bible. The creation, the flood, all of the major prophets and most of the minor ones, and Gods salvation plan for mankind. What all of this tells you is that you can trust Gods word.

This is a scripture that helped me very much:

Pro 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
Pro 3:6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Submit your understanding to God, and trust in Him with all your heart. Don't try to figure God out because we cannot fit the greatness of God in the smallness of our minds. We have to trust Him first. If you cannot understand something, give it up to God, trust Him first, and then ask Him to lead you to the answer, if that is His will. It was only when I started to put my trust in Him alone, and not in my own understanding, that He led me to the answers I had been seeking. He hasn't answered all of my questions; scripture says that we all know in part and that fullness of knowledge will only come when Jesus returns for us. There are certainly many mysteries which He will reveal to us in due time.

Feelings come and go, but Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. He will never change, so put your trust in Him to keep you in the faith, and not in feelings.

Lol simple answer is the devil is wanting you back, like a crazy ex lol. You're exactly where you need to be. Basically you where with the devil for a while, the God came and swept you of you feet and now the relationship is good and is only getting better. But your ex isn't wanting to give up that easily, so basically coming up with lies about scepticism and feeding your thoughts with negativity hoping to derail your joy with God. So laugh it off, stop listening to your ex and ENJOY this new relationship! :)
