  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Concerning my name:

*repost*

For me it has always been an act of self-abasement, and irreverence of my own opinion/appearance. I even spelled my name incorrectly on purpose. I am not 'all that'. I have never taken myself so seriously to view others despairingly in light of my own 'greatness'. And I am a fool for Christ.

I have always liked Bill... because he is just Bill. He never even attempts to be anyone he is not.

Bill?

Yes, sometimes acquiring debt is necessary in extreme circumstances--wars, natural disasters, epidemics.

Marxist uprisings, political coups, contested elections....

Yeah, not happening. The problem you are facing, is I cannot trust your stance. I have been lied to far too many times. The whole Russia thing... Steele dossier.... it is just at a point of redundancy it is almost Deja Vu. You just turn your head to the side with a concerned look, and are like 'I've seen this before, the next thing that will happen is....'

Dude you say that every single time someone asks you to provide some sort of something that might indicate where these assertions of yours might come from. I think you once referred to some mythical age, lost in the mists of time, when you provided a link on which so much scorn was poured you swore ‘never again’...Is that something that actually happened, or is it simply that you doubt the credibility of your own sources?

I got tired of talking to a wall....

I have a sneaking suspicion that rumours of the death of your attempt to justify your posts with real info omitted the fact that they never existed in the first place.

No kidding... I'm just tired of playing make pretend as if this is the first time you have ever voiced said suspicion. And as if you and me never even had this conversation before.

Uh who’s pretending? Do you blame Ben Gun for wanting a bit of cheese? I just want a bit of evidence.

That's not sacrificing your children. Life happens, and it is not always fair. I think it is a very bigoted point of view to assume your sister doesn't care for her children just because she wants the unconstitutional restrictions removed. What? She is a bad Mom because she doesn't agree with your point of view?

She's a bad mom because she take absolutely no precautions to keep her children safe. She doesn't vaccinate them, doesn't believe in modern medicine because she thinks it's all a plot by Democrats, and says that because everything is in god's hands, and because god has a time for everyone to die, she doesn't have to take precautions with her kids because it wouldn't do any good.

Before you falsely accuse someone of being a bigot, perhaps it's best to have all the facts.

Have you ever even considered you're wrong? And she is doing far more to protect her child than to heed your political view on the matter?

No, because I think only an idiot would think that not taking precautions with your children's health is a good idea. That a Christian conservative would be so blinded by religion and politics to shirk any responsibility for their children's well being is beyond abhorrent.

I was talking about the narrative. The narrative is dead, it failed.

No you weren't. You said:

"The virus was defeated and isn't all that bad"

That's specifically about the virus. Not the narrative.

How is the virus "defeated"?

I said I believed it was a bigoted point of view. Never said you were a bigot. It's blatantly obvious only your point of view is correct in this situation even concerning other peoples children. What is that word when people are completely intolerant of others point of views or opinions? It's right on the tip of my tongue...

How is the virus "defeated"?

Would it be better if I said I found that to be a rather intolerant point of view?

That is just getting us further in debt. There has to be income entering the coffers. We cannot continue to bleed out like this. Federal income is rolling backwards.
I can't help but notice this wasn't a complaint when Donald cut taxes on millionaires and increased the debt.

Florida education commissioner orders Miami to open schools earlier than planned

[The Miami-Dade school board] voted Sept. 22 to open schools for some students on Oct. 14, with all students who opted to return to classrooms to be there by Oct. 21, giving the district time to put in place sufficient safety measures to prevent coronavirus outbreaks.

[But] Florida Education Commissioner Richard Corcoran has ordered Miami-Dade County Public Schools to fully open its buildings five days a week by Oct. 5.

Miami-Dade is one of a few districts that started the 2020-21 school year with all-remote learning after winning permission from the administration of Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) because of exceptionally high coronavirus rates.

Corcoran’s letter came as a surprise to Miami-Dade officials. The Miami Herald quoted Hantman as saying, “It’s just very strange to me and I think it took everyone by surprise. I’m very much in favor of opening schools but when it’s safe.

Safety plans, schmafety plans.

I think that is a sick and twisted comment coming from a bitter individual.
I think that itself is a sick and twisted comment coming from a bitter individual.

You lost, get over it.
What did I lose? I lost nothing.

The virus was defeated and isn't all that bad, be thankful instead of being so nasty. No one wants to watch their child die.... o_O
What a thing to say...
The virus was defeated? Where? What universe? Anything to back up that claim?

I never said anyone "wants to watch their child die" so I don't know what you're talking about with that statement.

What a thing to say...

No, but agents of disinformation would have you think so.

This is the Florida crisis:

Due to coronavirus, a new national Feed America study finds that Central Floridians will likely experience a 49% increase in food insecurity this year. The study describes food insecurity as a lack of access to enough food to lead a healthy lifestyle.

In Central Florida, the study found that the food insecurity issue was larger than the rest of the state, besides the Panhandle. Dan Samuels, director of philanthropy at Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida, compared Central Florida to the likes of Las Vegas in terms of tourism and the immense toll the pandemic has taken on our local economy, making Central Florida the worst hit area.

“We have a large number of lower-paying jobs, folks who are barely making it on a normal day, and the hospitality industry took a major hit. We have a very big hospitality community here in Central Florida, so when it hit, it didn’t just affect a few people; it impacted tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of people,” Samuels said. “We have always talked about having a housing crisis in Central Florida, and I think that always plays a factor when anything happens.”

In every state, but particularly in Florida, with its large population of medically vulnerable senior citizens, the economy will not recover until the necessary safety precautions are in place to allow them to feel confident when they go out, masked and socially distant, to shop.

I'm a senior citizen, and my social life has definitely suffered in the pandemic. I do go to a fitness center pool every day. It is part of a hospital complex and I have attended for enough years that I know the hours it is emptiest. Other than that, I do very little outside of seeing family. I have met with groups of friends outdoors and socially distanced occasionally. I get groceries through Instacart or Walmart pickup. In a pinch I will go to Dollar Tree during a slow time. I sit in my car in the church parking lot with my cell phone and go to drive through communion (except on our 50th wedding anniversary, when we went in and received a marriage blessing.) I get my hair cut and colored with a stylist who has set up a home salon (licensed) and follows safety guidelines. Most of my interactions with friends are via zoom or phone or internet.

Fortunately, I have the companionship of my husband. My heart breaks for those in nursing homes. My brother recently had to go to a rehab center following a hospitalization, and he was very isolated.

Nothing Governor DeSantis is doing is addressing the real problem. He is playing fast and loose with human lives, and that's not leadership.

Just curious whether there would be any legal recourse by relatives of deceased covid-19 victims to sue the government officials that demand opening up bars/restaurants/bowling alleys/movie theaters/schools/day care facilities/etc. that then results in loss of life.

Heck, there are some officials who demand everything open up and are then also dictating that businesses, schools and local governments are NOT allowed to mandate safety protocols.

To me, it would seem that if those officials that do so and that their decisions then result in lose of life, then those officials SHOULD legally be held responsible for those deaths.
