I expect we have members affected- but the last thing on their mind is posting on CF.

Those of us who wish could be upholdong these folk in prayer. If you know someone with specific need, or a member who is safe, but not able to post, maybe here could be a place to post such things.

So far around here were I live we have had people evacuated for their own safety.

It has hit the older folk very hard. Some are in tears and bereft at having to leave their homes. They cannot recall floods ever being this bad.

We have been told NOT to attempt to travel and that the water supply is libel to fail today. The latter does not bother me overmuch as I have a rain water collection system and purifying tablets.

The rivers surrounding have broken not only their banks but across their flood plains.

Herds of animals have drowned and crops have been inundated.

The emergency service folk will be running on adrenalin and exhaustion by now.

Managing to keep in contact with those moved form the lower areas by mobile phones. Some will be coming to stay here with us as we live on a hill, have a wood pile, charcoal stove and a dry larder full of food. Hope they manage to get here safely.

Things to pray for.

  • Safety of the rescue services and opportunity to rest.
  • For those distressed at losing homes and unable to easily contact family and friends
  • For an interim water supply to areas without drinking water
  • For safety of those surrounded by flood water. It contains sewage and rotting matter so it is not healthy stuff to go wading through.
  • For those without insurance for they will not only have lost their homes they will struggle to repair and replace what they need for the coming winter.
Right now those caught in the very midst of this will only have survival on their minds but pray that from such an awful situation God brings good and opportunities to witness motivated by compassion to those displaced and bereft.

The news this morning is full of stories about the interupted water supply. Unbelievable in a time such as this.

I'm in Suffolk, and things are ok- but other areas of East Anglia are not so blessed. Mother is is East Yorkshire- personally ok, but the people of Hull are still claering up.

Lord is there no end to this?

I live in Gloucester and fortunatly power in my area has been restored, still have internet (obviously) but have no water. We prepared for it though so we won't die or anything!

Not going to risk trying to get anywhere today though. From what I can tell most of the major routes out of Gloucester are flooded and there are some roads that I use all the time further in that are flooded.

Yesterday there was choas at supermarket and there were skuffles over bottles of water that the police had to get involved in.

My family and I have been very lucky - our house in in a perfect location to avoid the flooding and my church (even with a busted roof) has not been flooded! Thank God for that!

The river is meant to peak later on so hopefully we've broken the back of this thing and they can start getting the water back.

Very odd atmosphere in Gloucester at the moment though.

Kinda wierd how its all flooding down south, yet Ive been walking round in my shorts and tshirt for the past few days and its been all right (well thats until I started to write this message and its started to rain).

Find it funny on the news how they are describing the floods as "the worse in 150 years," yet three weeks ago the floods in Sheffield/Hull were "the worse even since records began"

Still my prayers are with the southern fairies.

Does any one know how Cheltenham is?

I think it's been fairly badly hit- I read that they're running out of tap water supplies, and they've had to send some helicopters in.

They've been delivering sandbags to the street next to mine here in Caversham - I've been starting to move some stuff upstairs but I'm not entirly sure how likely we are to get flooded. Better safe than sorry I suppose.

My dad picked a really annoying time to go away for the week, I need to find someone to move the car as no-one else in my family can drive - wish I'd got around to taking the test now. :D

I live just outside of Gloucester and haven't been able to get into work at GRH for the last two days - I probably won't be able to get in tomorrow either...

Where I am hasn't been affected, but there's no route at all out by me by which Gloucester can be accessed.

I'm in Bedfordshire, the villages to the north of my town have flooded...I think the water is going down now and I don't think too many houses have been flooded.

The river levels peaked in my town yesterday, again I think houses have been pretty much ok but one man drowned...apparently he decided to swim across the river and the fast currents sucked him under :(
