They haven't claimed a 24Hr moon, just that they hope to obtain footage of it from someone. From where they are, the moon is not necessarily visible at this time of year.

The 24 hour moon will happen over the 24th to 25th December. TFE will not be there but my understanding is that somebody who will be there has offered to attempt to video it over the 24 hour period.

I have to say I’m very impressed with the fact that Pastor Will Duffy has put so much effort, time and money into making this trip happen for both flat & globe earthers. And the data they are collecting will be very useful in the future.

Try it yourself with a flashlight and a ball. Start with the middle point of the ball facing the flashlight, as it would be in the fall and spring, where the light is hitting the "front" of the ball. Then, tilt the ball upward or downward until the top point of the ball is slightly pointed toward the flashlight (the sun). If you rotate up, the top of the ball will be pointed a bit toward the sun -- meaning that no matter how you spin the ball, the sun stays in sight of the top of the ball and the bottom of the ball gets no light at all, since it stay pointed away. That is summer, where the North Pole has 24-hour sun for a few months.

Reverse it, where the bottom point faces the flashlight -- the bottom gets hit by light regardless of how you spin the ball on the axis, since it is slightly pointed at the flashlight, while the top gets no sun. This is where we are now, with the North Pole having 24-hours with no sun at all, and the South Pole having 24 hours of sunlight.

This is why the Globe Earth people had predicted there would be 24-hour sun at the South Pole, and why many Flat Earthers had believed there would be no 24-hour sun. Both Jeran and Witset have admitted they were wrong and that there is a 24-hour sun in Antarctica, though they are working on a theory for how this happens on a Flat Earth.

The earth is rotating. The 24 hour sun in Antarctica has nothing to do with the earth’s orbit around the sun, but with the angle of the earth’s tilt in relation to the sun and the earth’s rotation.

I do not see how they can know that they are in the Antarctic without relying on 'globalists' claiming so.

They can't (or shouldn't) use GPS because GPS relies on satellites orbiting a globe earth. If the earth is flat then GPS must be fake. An old fashioned compass could be tricked while in an aircraft so would be unreliable. An inertial navigation system would work, but how would they know it had not been tampered with? Good old fashioned navigation by looking at the position of the sun and stars (only at night) and knowing the time has the problem that the maths involved is based on the earth being a rotating globe orbiting the sun.

But does any of this matter? Probably not, provided they see 24 hours of daylight. All that is needed is a watch that can keep time for a couple of days.

As I mentioned, the Flat Earthers had at least 4 different types of compasses with them, that work on different principles. The idea here is that you could likely spoof a couple of them but it would be extremely difficult to spoof all of them at the same time, particularly keeping them all appearing they were traveling south.

Additionally, they had windows in the plane and could look out and see the terrain, could tell if they were turning or changing direction. Many of them have mentioned how breathtaking it was to look out the window at the Antarctic scenery, how it was both beautiful and terrifying, because of how desolate it was. This view out the window is also pretty strong evidence, as (at least from what I've heard from the various livestreams, including from the Flat Earthers) the views were clearly from Antarctica and not a view they would have seen if they somehow got tricked and went North into the Andean mountains, or somewhere else 4 hours from the southernmost point in Chile. They wouldn't have seen the constant ice -- after crossing the Drake Passage -- if they had traveled any other direction but south for a few hours.

Because the curvature of the earth means the sun appears lower in the sky from Chile, meaning it will drop below the horizon at night. At this time of year, because of the earth’s tilt, the further north you go, the more the earth’s curve affects the elevation of the sun in the sky, making it lower in the sky.

There was 17 hours of sun where they stayed before flying to Antarctica.
