No, a cult is a group, belief system or way of life that centres, mostly, around one person who is pushing a particular product, or ideology.
So a pop, film or sports star who advocates veganism, alternative medicine or anything else can have a cult following. Like Gwyneth Paltrow and Goop or celebrities who swear by anti-ageing products, for example.

In religious cults, people become convinced that they, alone, have the truth and that anyone who says otherwise is dangerous and trying to disrupt the group's belief or way of life.
Christianity started as a Jewish cult. Jews knew they were God's chosen people and were awaiting their Messiah, then suddenly Jesus of Nazareth comes along, heals people, criticises the religious establishment and people follow him and say that he is the Messiah. After his death, his followers even start saying that he is alive again - and that those who believe in him can become God's children. Jews used to persecute us for being a cult.

Christian cults are those who claim they follow the Bible and Christian faith but don't because their own leader has told them otherwise. So "Rev" Moon claimed that he had met Jesus who told him the Moon had to become the 2nd Messiah because Jesus had failed in his mission. Is that true?
No, because the Bible says otherwise.
JWs, Mormons etc. do not believe in the Trinity because their leaders tell them it's false. IS it false; no, the Bible teaches it.
Several cults have actually been found guilty of brainwashing - e.g. JWs have been known to let their members have as little sleep as possible, cut them off from their families and friends and bombard them with teachings by their leader. Why? So the members will be unable to think and question for themselves and will not be in contact with people who present an alternative argument to the group.
Flat earth teachers are just as capable of having a cult following, and indeed presenting cultish behaviour, as anybody else.

The Bible does not teach this kind of controlling, coercive behaviour.

That's a lie for a start.
We have been all but begging you to investigate our truth - that the earth is a globe. You have been told to use your telescope, to stand on a high cliff and look at the horizon, to release a balloon with a cam on the end into the air, to go to the travel agents and ask them for information about Antarctica; where are the ice walls, why can't you go very far into it? etc. You have been encouraged to watch David Attenborough's DVD on Antarctica and speak to people who have been there. You won't do any of that.
You have been told that there are clear photographs of the earth taken from the moon; that people (12, in fact) have landed on the moon, that they are eyewitnesses, and that there are books, interviews, tape recordings etc. which show this. You have dismissed everyone involved as being a liar.

The earth is a globe, moon landings are factual, and Antarctica can be visited by anyone who has the money and doesn't mind the cold.
That is the truth. Go on, investigate it - if you dare.
(And by that, I don't mean go on to YouTube, type in flat earth and post videos that other people have made.)

I was answering your statement that the Bible is used to define what a cult is and also giving examples of cultish behaviour.

OK then, a religious cult is a group which breaks away and challenges, or contradicts, mainstream teaching.
Hence Christianity being a Jewish cult and JWs being a Christian cult. I wouldn't be surprised if there were Muslim, Buddhist and Hindu cults as well.

Here is a person Phil G who pluck's Adam out of God's creation in Genesis and places Adam on a globe earth. so you reject science's evolution, but yet turn around and accept the same science's globe earth, what a contradiction.

Then to try and explain it away by saying a globe earth is observed. What do you think scientist say about evolution, it is observed, but one observation is accepted and one observation is rejected.

The telescope equatorial mount is a piece of equipment designed to operate according to the rotating globe earth. That’s its design. If the earth is flat, the mount could not track anything in the sky as it rotates only on a single axis.

I don’t have to believe any satanic deception for this to be a simple fact. Go and investigate it for yourself instead of resorting to your usual accusations and bluster.

That is not investigating. A poll is very subjective & it is only based on a sample pool of people’s opinions.

Try looking to the claims of it being faked and responses to those claims. Try to understand basic facts, because without that understanding, all you’re going to be able to do is deny and mock.

If they were asked if they think the moon landings were faked, and 61% strongly disbelieve that, then 61% of people think the moon landings were genuine.
Only 5% strongly believed they were faked.

You believe a poll which, you think, tells you that most people don't believe in the moon landings, but photos from eyewitnesses are faked and the witnesses liars.

That’s still not investigating. In order to investigate you have to be open to the possibility of being wrong. Then look at the arguments for & against. And then have some rational points to make to show you have a basic grasp of realities.

You’ve shown repeatedly now that you haven’t clue how to investigate. All you do is link to people you believe (other conspiracy theorists)…..and that’s it. That’s all you have.

And stop making this thread about moon landings. It’s about Antarctica & 24 hours of daylight every day for several months of the year.
