What does everyone think of the Flat Earth Theory?
I have read some books on the subject.
I am convinced the Earth is round. I tend to go with the mainstream views.

Here on this forum, about 98% believe in a globe earth, even though The Bible describes a different creation than what science states. So much for faith in God's word about creation.

I find it amusing how most people get really up in arms about that whole discussion, vehemently defending one side or the other as if their lives were on the line or something, and as if they're all specialists who studied the issue for decades and are 100% sure of their opinion.

I've looked into the subject a lot and I honestly say: I don't know. Really not sure. I've seen good arguments from both sides and no real apodictic proof on either of them.

Christians should strive not to be divided by such issues (Titus 3:9-11).

The so called 98% don't make God out to be a liar like the flat earth believers do.

Aren't the flat Earth arguments based on literal interpretation of Genesis, while globe earth based on observation and math? Two very different kinds of arguments. But overall clearly established or beyond dispute at this point.

Good part about this debate and our positions we will eventually see who is promoting a lie.

And it will be the flat earth brigade that will see that the earth is indeed a sphere!

Good part about this debate is we can readily see today who is promoting a lie.

Perhaps you should travel more in the Southern Hemisphere if you want to be sure. There is some congruence between the 'flat earth' and the globe if you confine yourself to the Northern Hemisphere, but once you pass South of the equator all bets are off. Flat earth becomes a complete fantasy. Since you live in Rio, all you need to do is look up at the stars at night. Why can't you see Polaris at the North Celestial pole?

More than 98% I would say, and Scripture does not teach a Flat Earth, nor have Christians historically believed in it to any significant degree.

Muhammed did believe the world was flat however, but educated Muslims gloss over the hadiths where he described the horizon as an illusion, or the Sura in the Quran where Alexander the Great travels to the far West and finds the sun relaxing at night in some strange luminous pool before returning to the East, and converses with it.

Not really, since Genesis 1 is actually not topologically specific. Neither is the book of Job, if you think about it. If one studies the idea of topology, mathematically speaking, many things can be apparently flat while actually curved, and for something in Scripture to be described incontrovertibly as literally flat, it would require explicit statements rejecting curvature which simply are not present.

Like i say to all you who believe in a globe earth. The day is coming where God's true creation will be known to all. So we will find out who is promoting a lie. I look forward to this day.

You vision is not so good, if you think you are seeing a sun, moon and stars. That are thousands to million to billions of miles and light years away out in an outer space.

That is the biggest joke in all of this debate, is the claim by science that their creation is observed. It is observed all right, through fake photo manipulation and cgi.

When you have no response to the evidence, claim it is fake and fabricated. Flat Earth 101
