Scroll down to "Content options" and tick the box next to "Disable holiday styling" then click "Save" at the bottom.

That will stop all the USA centric holiday animations from messing up your screen and loading your processor unnecessarily such as the hearts on Valentine's day, or little hats on St Patrick's day or Thanksgiving, or leaves blowing at the beginning of Autumn, etc.
