For example, why I can not see Sun at night?

Isn't it obvious?
Because Ra's chariot pulled it to the other side of the flat earth off course...

If you look carefully, you can see the rope by which Ra is pulling the sun around the flat earth disc.

Checkmate, atheists!

What did you expect?
That people were going to have a serious debate about such a laughable subject?

"I learned long ago, never to wrestle with a pig. You get dirty, and besides, the pig likes it." -George Bernard Shaw.

It is extremely hard to talk sense to grown adults who appear to have grossly uneducated minds and obvious learning disabilities. It's apparent the FE'ers love wallowing in the mud.

Have you actually researched any FE models? Like... any?
I saw a flat earth map once, with the north pole as the 'middle.'

As you are the FE advocate here, how about you explain the best FE model.

I really don’t want to at this point. All this thread has turned into is a place to attack a group of people for what they believe in. I can’t tolerate the mockery further, especially from people daring to call themselves Christians.

Here’s what I’ve gathered:

FEs are pigs.
FEs like wallowing in mud.
FEs are mentally ill.
FEs are stupid.
FEs are laughable.
FEs want to feel special.
FEs lie.
FEs are deluded.

I’m sure I missed a lot more but I think it’s clear what has been said, either round about or directly.

You guys need to learn some humility. Honestly. This has been a disgusting experience.

Are FEs right? You don’t think so? Okay. That’s okay. I wrestle with the idea myself. However, for me it’s a Biblical matter at the moment.

If the Bible says it’s flat, it’s flat. I just need to discern if the Bible really does say such things, to be certain. (No, don’t argue and tell me it doesn’t). There is a very good case for it doing so.

Furthermore, I’m not going to trust a bunch of Athiests and FEs at their word that the Bible is an FE book. I need to find out for myself, so I can rest my mind on the topic as well as others.

So? Wrong or right, misguided or not, lost in group think or not, the way many here have referred to FEs is just mean spirited. They AREN’T stupid. They are people and they DO have good reasons to believe (or disbelieve) what they do. Agree? Don’t agree? Relax and remember people aren’t their ideas, they are people.

On a forum I used to visit, one flat earther proudly confessed to having had a decades long drug habit, and upon almost dying from an OD for like the 10th time, had a religious conversion and is now a biblical literalist conspiracy theorist. And his arguments were exactly the same as we are seeing here.

You don't believe in ancient technology?
I think there's a difference between aqueducts or balistae and Atlantean power crystals or pyramid transmission towers.

The way it read, it sounded like the whole flat earth movement (at least those who may be sincere) is borne out of an inferiority complex.
Does seem to be a big part of it - but all conspiracy 'theories', not just FE.

You guys need to learn some humility.

This is what I love about FEs and creationists and the like - they see themselves as the ultimate arbiters of things like: what is and is not 'science'; what evidence is real and which is not; why people accept evolution/globe earth/vaccines work/etc. They see themselves as being in possession of knowledge that trumps anything discovered, observed, produced via experiment, etc. by people whose careers are premised on studying particular phenomena, yet when people get tired of their unwarranted arrogance and accusations (or being pat of the conspiracy, being deluded and deceived, etc.), they write things like:

You guys need to learn some humility.

Anytime you go on a site populated by people who know better than to believe a cockamamie idea like the earth is flat, that's the kind of experience you should expect.

I don't agree that it necessarily reduces intellectual competence - it depends on the dosage (and the type) of pot.

When I was working, I spent many happy years coding at home in my spare time while mildly high, sometimes on projects for work, and although it might take longer, the quality of the code wasn't noticeably different - and quite often, I'd get ideas for better code design that I don't think would have occurred to me straight. I know quite a few others who did the same (using sativa rather than indica varieties).

Clearly, if you have too much, your thinking becomes overly distracted, but in moderation it's not necessarily a problem. However, its effect on short-term memory did tend to hamper learning. I suspect the extreme strength of the substances widely available today do not make it easy to use them in moderation...

The Bible also talks about the four corners of the earth - does that mean it's square, or oblong?

That's a very good question, and one that exposed the nonsense of "Flat Earth" very quickly.

Because there isn't any Flat Earth model.
There are some vague references. The Earth is "not a sphere"... but what is really is, most Flat Earthers will never tell you. The sun and moon are "local". How far away they are, how big they are... even WHAT they are... Flat Earthers cannot agree.
Is there a map of the Flat Earth? Flat Earthers often like to use the North Pole centered, azimuthal equidistant projection as "their" map. Even the UN uses this map - they know, they mock you, Flat Earthers like to proclaim.
But as soon as you point out the difficulties this map would have in reality, they backpedal. Oh, no, it's just an idea. It's not how the earth REALLY looks.
How it really looks? They have no idea.

How do thinks work on a Flat Map? Seasons, horizons, weather, tides, optics, gravity, planes, gyroscopes... they are quick to tell you how all these things would definitly NOT work on a globe... and by their explanations, they reveal that they don't have the slightest understanding of these things. But asked how they work? Hey, sometimes you might even get a "model"... which crashes as soon as you compare it to the most obvious of observations.

There is no Flat Earth model. There are no Flat Earth models. There are only a bunch of more or less stupid assertions.

Now of course you might claim that we have only looked at the bad models, or the bad proponents of Flat Earth. If we would only search for the "real" models, the "real" Flat Earthers, doing the "real" science to prove their ideas.

Yes, that would be nice.

Where do we find them? Any idea?

What's your reason or reasons for believing the world is a sphere?

So… Why do you believe the world is a globe, orbiting the Sun? Can your reasons have other explanations than what you currently accept?

I'll argue it just on geometry. Why does navigating with the stars only work using spherical trigonometry? Why won't it work with Euclidean geometry? The obvious answer is because the earth is spherical.

Yeah. When there are two competing theories to explain a wide variety of observations, and under one theory all those observations follow clearly, simply, and with mathematical precision, and under the other require a morass of special pleading, including an inexplicable conspiracy involving hundreds of thousands of people all around across the globe, it doesn't take a genius to work out which is plausible and which is a donkey.

In the context of the OP I took that to mean fanciful conspiracy nonsense i.e. "advanced" technologies that are not currently understood to have existed in "ancient times". Obviously I believe that ancient people had rudimentary technologies.

Maybe rudimentary compared to what we have now, but they had a lot more complex machines than most people give them credit for. Have you ever heard of the Antikythera Mechanism, for example?

It doesn't.

The fact that you resort to ridiculous, impossible conspiracies when pressed makes it very hard to take your position seriously. I once used the same 'reasoning' used by flat earthers to 'prove' that Australia didn't exist.

I think there's a difference between aqueducts or balistae and Atlantean power crystals or pyramid transmission towers.

What about steam engines? They had those in the first century AD.

Maybe but likely this is a reference to North, South, East, West.

Maybe.
If the Bible talks about the earth being flat, that could be because that is how they thought at the time.

The problem is when you get someone who interprets all the words of the Bible literally, insist that it means only what it says and so that is how it is. It seems that some people come up with all kinds of theories that just don't hold up scientifically - only rather than admit their interpretation of Scripture is false, they suggest that ALL evidence is faked, mistaken or planted as some kind of test from God. Then it's not long before they say that anyone who believes in this evidence is not trusting in him/has little faith.
I'm not saying you're doing that, at all; but it has been known.
Like all things, the issue is really how we read and understand Scripture.
