I think the ability to think spatially is a factor, though.

Compartmentalization is a powerful force, you can know all of the math and science but refuse to apply it to your favored conspiracy theories.

I think you've all been had by the OP.

But while you are all gathered in one place, let me ask you...

If the earth isn't flat, then please explain the turtle? Well?

Did you know?

Turtles support a flat earth.

Glad you think so.

In fact, the mere existence of that particular flight disproves the flat earth. That's why flat-earthers deny that the flight exists.
I don't deny the flight exists and wasn't aware people did. *Shrug*

Let's be honest here, conversations with 10-50 FEs isn't going to prove anything in this regard. How about surveying?

That's exactly what it's like. Flat-earthers keep telling me that what I see out of my window here in Australia isn't real, and that the aeroplane flights I've taken aren't real either.

Strange.
I wonder why?

It's not allowed, is it?

There are at least 10 different countries with stations (seasonal and permanent) on Antarctica. Civilian (meaning non-government sponsored) travel to Antarctica is a millions per year business.
Antarctica Tours & Travel | Intrepid Travel
Quantas has charter flights that flie you over the continent.
Sightseeing Flights Over Antarctica

Furthermore, why assume there is an "edge" anyone could travel to?

There has to be an edge where the Flerf meets up with dome. If you think there isn't a dome or that it somehow hovers above an infinite plane, you run in a whole 'nother set of problems.

Have you done any research on the conditions in Antarctica?

Yep. About once a week during the austral summer I check on the McMurdo, Palmer and South Pole webcams.
The USAP Portal: Science and Support in Antarctica - McMurdo Station Webcams

The international treaty?

There is no single Antarctic treaty and none of them bar people from going to the continent.

The massive barriers of ice?

They don't exist.

A better question to ask is... "Is there an edge?"

No, because sphere's don't have edges.

Why assume gravity exists? That mass attracts mass, purely of itself and not due to any sort of magnetic force?

Magnetism only works on ferrous materials.

Do day and night make sense on a flat Earth? They can.

They don't. The sun isn't a spotlight. It would be visible in the sky and there would be day and twilight, but not night.

You can't see the South Pole or China, or any other ridiculously distant land from New York because ... We don't see infinitely far, atmospheric distortion, and simply how our eyes work (field of vision).

Actually at a height we should be able to see much further on Flerf than we can on earth because the horizon wouldn't disappear with the curvature. Also on earth you cannot see Calais, France from Dover, England, but if you go up in a helicopter you can. That's because of the curvature.

How difficult would hiding Earth's shape from humanity actually be? Think about it?

I love the pretension of the "think about it" comment. As if none of us has thought about it or if we did think about it, we'd have to arrive at the same conclusion as you. I posted this in response to SeventyOne and he never replied. Maybe you would live to give it a shot. It's an explanation as to why there would have to be a massive conspiracy with literally hundreds of thousands if not millions of people involved covering up Flerf.

On the FE the trip from Santiago to Sydney should be several times longer then the trip from Sydney to Los Angels... it isn't.

@pitabread This is why your poo pooing of flat earthers is misguided. It doesn't take into account the appeal of the hidden and the esoteric. Flat earthers think they are "woke" and not being fooled by the man. It's the same as any other conspiracy theory. 'I have knowledge and am not being duped, while you are sheep being controlled'.

I can't remember if it was on here or not, but while discussing the Sydney to Santiago (or Johanesburg) flight that flat earthers say doesn't exist and someone noted that they had actually taken that flight.

There were recent reports (right after Christmas) about 2 athletes completing a crossing of Antarctica (across the South Pole). These reports were complete with pictures, television interviews, etc.

I looked at O'Brady's route and mapped it on a Flerf map. He took 54 days. If he was actually walking "around" the Flerf, it would have taken twice that long or more.

Part of a proud tradition of polar exploration.

The first team to cross Antarctica via the South Pole did it in 1958. They had tractors, of course, which made it a lot easier.

During 1979 to 1981, a small team did a round-the-world trip that visited both poles. Part of the journey was done by air.

The matter is closed.

I'm sure Obama picked flat-earthers as possibly the most extreme example of a group of deluded time wasters.

I have determined the answer (not that I need to) by simply looking at a cartographic representation of the Earth. Five minutes worth of study reveals that a flat Earth is completely untenable. Any idiot (I won't use your offensive term) can see that.

I do not have "one reason". It's a well known fact with evidence coming from 500 years of global travel, astronomy, geography, engineering etc etc.

No, I don't believe in those other things you mention.

Hundreds of years of empirical evidence show that this is the case.

There is absolutely no reason to think otherwise.

No they do not have good reason to do so.

I wouldn't equate flerfism with IQ or level of education, it appears to be driven by a particular mindset. Not being a psychologist I couldn't comment further.
