Flashing a 9800 Pro BIOS

I just bought a 9800 Pro because it was cheap. Apparently this one has the 9800XT core in it, and it can be flashed to be an XT. Does anyone know how to do this?

I would imagine it'll be like any BIOS. The website should have a utility to flash the BIOS. I tried a google search that yielded no results, so I would recommend the manufacturer site.

LOL I tried the same thing. I guess great minds think alike. I will go to ATi's website and see what they have.

Not a problem. My apologies that I could not find more helpful information.

They have programs that you can download to essentially overclock the card. I would check out www.hardforums.com or something like www.amdmb.com to help you get your hands on a program that will overclock the card. Also beware that you can ruin your 9800 very easily by doing this if anything goes wrong with the overclocking. Becareful that you dont raise the internal clock to high or the card could be unstable and useless to you. There is also a chance for the card to run hotter too, so I hope you have good cooling on it and you might also want to get some ram sinks for it too! My motto with computers has been after destroying so many computer parts is, If ain't broke than don't change it!

This card has the 9800XT core and the XT RAM on it. It should be able to do just fine. I did some checking to grab the right BIOS. All the Pros have Samsung RAM. This one has Hynix RAM on it. I can't resist. lol

Ok, it was easy to flash the bios as it turns out.. It ran fine, but kept crashing

Believe it or not, I had to increase my RAM voltage and AGP voltage for it to run properly, but it works perfectly now. It's amazing. I love it.

Hmmm. I started getting artifacts.. The XT bios tried to overclock the card on it's own, but with no temp sensor I guess it didn't know when to stop. Sooooo..

I just reflashed it and used an overclock util. I overclocked it to the max and now I get XT scores with a Pro
