  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I see nude women every day. I have to change into sterile scrubs for work, so I see them in the locker room. One woman who must be in her 50’s and very thin, has the nastiest flabbiest legs I’ve ever seen. Oh sure she fake bakes so that the flab is dark colored, but it still looks nasty. So how does one who is aging prevent this? She’s not overweight, far from it.

I take the steps all the time. I am glad that I do.

What other simple ways can we prevent flab from taking over?

Never let your skin stretch in the first place. Maintain a healthy weight and good muscle tone for your whole life. Go to a good gym or college that will dunk you and check your actual body fat %, use that as a measuring stick instead of a scale. Just because the lady at work is skinny doesn't mean she isn't fatty - it just means she doesn't look fat. Exersize everyday. Eat right.

There are no fun, easy ways, that's why most people (myself included) don't do it.

I think even if you're thin, when you age it goes to flab if you don't try to keep it tone.

Absolutely. While someone who is visually overweight is almost always a fatty, there's nothing saying that skinny people aren't carrying way too much fat. It's too bad weightlifting is seen by many as a guy thing - it shouldn't be, resistance training should be a part of any serious "get healthy/look good" plan. Weight lifting a few times a week will not make a woman look like a female bodybuilder unless that's what she wants to look like, eats for muscle growth, etc.

I love to lift weights-I wish I could do that.

Squat the two oldest kids:) Curl the toddlers. Bench press a...umm...coffee table?

You're supposed to increase resistence periodically, and your kids are growing, so it works out perfect:)

I like to do pushups with my kids sitting on my shoulders, they enjoy it too.

Park farther away from the doors wherever you go...work, shopping etc.

Don't buy chips, pop and other junk food.

Drink lots of water.

Stay away from the booze.

Work out 1/2 hour a day.

I don't do any of these things but it sounds simple.

I use lotion with Vitamin E in it (you can use any lotion you want---just buy Vitamin E capsules and pop them open and put it in your lotion) which is suppose to help keep your skin looking young. But I would say exercise does more for your body than any cosmetic or vitamin could do.

Deal with it. We get old, we get wrinkly, our hair goes white, we get arthritis, our memory goes impressionistic. I have only mentioned the things that are universal and inevitable - IF YOU ARE LUCKY, that is all that happens.

It's all part of a process called "dying"..... ever heard of it? For us Catholics, it's supposed to be something wonderful, that we should plan for and look forward to.
