fixing primary drive (partitioned)

Okay, this is what happened.

When I first installed windows, my brother split my hard drive into two.

so anyways, my computer got a virus a few days ago, so i formatted my C drive, and reinstalled windows [on the nonpartitioned space].
however, when i did all that, windows ended up being installed on D, and my d drive (which had all my media and games) from before became C.
so another words, C (now the media and game drive) is now considered primary, and it's messing things up when i want to install anything.

how do i fix it to make D become C, and vice versa?
do i need to reinstall windows?

yeah. everything is fine, except it's weird that Windows is instaled on D drive instead of D.

well...i don't have the installation problem anymore. it's just weird.

This will show you how to change the drive letter, but expect everything to become rather messy, because many of your programs are likely pointing specifically to to a file tree in C: if you change what C: is then the file tree won't be there anymore.

Take out that partition and start over. You aren't doing yourself any favors by having it there. If you have data that is important, purchase another drive. They are super cheap now and that would protect you from catastrophic failure of the drive, which a simple partition won't.
