Do any of you feel that somehow your age is a total mistake? I am now officially half way through the 50's and I feel like I don't match my age. I am fortunate enough to be healthy - jog and do other vigorous exercise every day, have a lot of energy, just a few silver hairs sprinkled decoratively on my head, no wrinkles, no medical conditions, haven't even started menopause yet. I almost hesitate to join anything in my age group because everyone is constantly talking about their aches and pains, how tired they are, and they all seem to go to bed at 9.

But if I hang out with 40 or 30 year olds, the technology hits me in the face - I don't do Facebook, "tweet", have an IPOD, cannot work a digital camera, and of course remember events that are history to them.

At some point, I seemed to be on the same wavelength as everyone else my age, but it is as though they took a turn in one direction and I went the other way.

Hello Clea,

I see that you have 7 posts, so you're new here at Christian Forums. WELCOME!

I assume that you're thinking about joining and posting in the Golden Eagles. You really don't have to join, and you're welcome to post every day or however often you feel like. We have a nice variety of kind folks who post here, and we spend very little of our time complaining about health problems. We do have a prayer request thread but a large variety of other kinds of threads. Try the Golden Eagles - you might like it. Whether you do or don't - you're most WELCOME here.

By the way, I consider 80 to be middle-aged. :D

Hi Clea and welcome to the Golden Eagles

I find myself, equally 'at home' with the ancients, as I am with babes in swaddling clothes

Age, of-itself, is no barrier to fellowship ... not, when there is
that willingness of heart, to show God's love to all

Be welcomed as, a beloved sibling... For this, is how we are taught to uphold each other

Terrific answer Dave.
When I saw this thread, it drew me in. We all are ageless in Christ, what ever shape
our mortal body is in.
I went to a small church one time and the only seperation of classes was two pews between us. I found I was trying to listen to both teaching. We find so many good points of truth from all age groups.
I read some on forums from younger christian people, and some things they post just go, 'over my head',
that must be the generation-gap?
It is very comfortable to post among those who have some mileage in their lives.
Not that I consider 66 as being such high mileage! Just this year got my first grown up toy, a DSlite. such fun. And I can't work an Ipod or a digital camera.
Welcome, Clea. I enjoyed your post.

Thank you Norah Sis'

Yes, for-sure is, that in the moment that one looks for 'differences' of, ANY KIND
be it age, race, denomination, sex [whatever classification]
then you have begun, already, to build a wall to keep people 'out' / 'away'
~different, to yourself

Fellowship, is all about, 'first names' and His 'FAMILY'

Take away those earthly trappings and peel away the skin
and we would would look virtually identical.... ((:)hug:)))

I want to become, just like Jesus... and what a great Father-Figure he makes!

For sure.... experience is a valuable lesson, hard to learn and not-easy to teach
His word is everywhere
and even, on the tongue of the disbeliever, if, His will.... is to speak through that person

As to whether my age is 'a total mistake' Clea
I dont think God has made a single-one, do you ?

:D

There are also variances in ages in church singles groups. A singles group at one church has ages 30 or 35 to age 60. Another church has ages 50 and over; another church has ages 40 and over. It depends on what age group you prefer. I liked the singles group ages of 35 or 40 to over 60's. Since I'm over 50, could go to different age groups. I learned a new word from one of the church singles group, Anuptaphobia: Fear of staying single (mostly in females).

If our 1st thing is God's kingdom and His righteousness,
then we are growing stronger and more active all of the time in Him,
even though the old man is dying.

This is also my testimony

From that night in the garden shed, my path has been clearly lighted
my hills have been flattened and my heart filled with hope

Amen Bro' Amadeus
amen!

Hey, don't worry about the technology stuff, when you are around the 30-40 group, just shake your head like you know what they are talking about !!
""but it is as though they took a turn in one direction and I went the other way. ""
THAT IS GREAT !! sometimes we have to stay out in left field to stay sane !!

(While I am disabled, I AM gonna figure out our own Video-camera,
as at some point need to get over being embarrassed on the ice),
so our Icedreams we can & will achieve

You're ahead of me on 3  conditions you stated, but
we are not in a contest here. - And tho on 11/25 (next week)

would like to know how to put words in a picture. I see some like that, it's neat.
Mostly it's just a 'copy and paste' world for me. However I do enjoy seeing all the wonderful things that some can do with their pictures and graphics. Like putting their name in a picture or adding a scripture. It's fun for e-mail to be able to do that.
