• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Ok so this is day three on meds, and it is knocking me around a bit, any one else feel shakey, sick and had vision disturbances? I'm also yawning all the time!!

The Doc did say that the dose of the zoloft that I am starting on will be a bit of a shock. (100mg). I'm also on epilim 400mg - but I don't think that is too high....

I've had times when I was first started on things that it was hard to just stay awake at all. Unfortunately, most of the time when I've first been started on meds I was in the hospital.

Hi

It is quite normal to feel rather offish when you first start a new medication. This can stay for months - sometimes it doesn't go away at all.
Sleepiness, nausea, headaches, shaking, tummy upsets, dry skin and rashes, to name but a few other effects psych meds can have on you, usually stay for some time. However such effects seem to wear off most of the time. The majority of the side effects I was suffering from have gone away. Only tiredness and a dry/sensitive skin seem to hang in tightly.

Give it some time, but do not hesotate to talk to your doc if things do not change in a couple of weeks to get more input from doc on each particular med, or if it is truley interferring with things you HAVE TO DO. oTHERWISE LAY LOW AND GIVE IT SOME TIME.
