I vaguely remember playing Space Invaders on our old Atari when I was very young. The first game I remember really getting into, was Sonic The Hedgehog on the Sega Mega Drive (Genesis for you yanks! :p), which I got for Christmas in 1991... I think!

Ever since playing Sonic... I've been hooked on videogames ever since. Now as a proud hardcore gamer, I wish I'd never sold my Mega Drive, so I could go back and re-live the magic!

If we're talking arcade, then it was Donkey Kong or Gorf, in the very early 1980's.

My first home console was a Colecovision I got for my 11th Birthday.
It came packaged with Donkey Kong. Since I had played that in an
arcade style standup, the next game I believe I had received was
one called Venture.

Colecovision Zone Venture

You can play it online as well:

I seem to recall Duck Hunt as my first. :sorry:

A lot of people on here mentioning Duck Hunt as their first game.

I recall my young Cousin's having this on the NES way back when.
Cute, fun little game. Remember the dog, popping up and laughing
at me when I missed a duck with that plastic gun they had.
