I already explained how trees can show little-to-no effect.The same way a doctor can direct a laser at a tumor and not touch the surrounding tissue.
We are not the only country that has lasers in satellites.

Given the size of the laser a doctor would use and what the size of the area it is used on, the laser would have to be near the size of those buildings.
It would be easier to just throw something on the roof to catch the building on fire.
