  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hi all, this is my second year with my husband and this year we drew the short straw so both our families will be at our house this year! I am so exited because this is the first time we get to host our combined families!
Both our families are Christian. Mine is Baptist and his is a mixture of Anglican and Catholic, what's the opinion here concerning the blessing? One of each? Or should we do a combined payer?

Welcome to CF and Happy Thanksgiving!

Catholics may have rules about joining prayers (I'm not sure). Ideally there should be a simple prayer that everyone could "amen" without bringing up an issue. When we have shared the holiday, usually the hosts pray.

It's a mix at our house too. Maybe i should offer to pray.

Hope you all have a wonderful holiday!

Thank you very much! All holidays with family are good. And yes I am aware that in Catholic Dogma is very touchy about combining prayers but this isn't a problem in our family (after all we have an Irish Catholic who married an Anglican after all). I was asking more because I wanted to do something cute and fun not because I was worried about a conflict.
Last week my husband and I were visiting Dallas and we ate at a place called Chuys where the wrapped flatware had 3 different grace prayers printed on them, one for Jews one for Catholics and one for Protestants. I thought that was a really cute idea so u was wanting to think of something fun like that without blatantly ripping of that idea. I was hoping some one here who is a member of a mixed faith Christian house may have some neat ideas.
