I have been discussing with my husband entering into ministry together. We don't know where to start though. Neither of us had any educational background in biblical teaching etc. but we are still sure that this is where we should go. A job has just opened up at our church that would allow him time to begin some studies durring the day, online or in class. Any advice besides the obvious;)(prayer)? What steps should I take. Our church is in the process of taking some huge growing steps over the next 2 years and we feel blessed to be a part of this great church.

I dont know if it will help, but I can recomend four Bible schools that do distance education....Prairie Bible up in Canada Berean School of the bible in Missouri and Homestead Bible out of florida and Liberty University...out of SC I think.

I have taken a few classed out of Praire and Berean and like what they have to offer, I know folks who have taken classes from the other two and like what I have heard about them.

By the way you dont need a degree to be in full time ministry, unless your church requires it...but it may be a good opertunity to learn

The first sign of a call is a desire;the second is that those in your congregation will see it and use you; The third will be that God will confirm it by putting you into positions that will be of use to him.
Any worthwhile ministry will require training. Jesus trained his disciples contrary to what many may think. Even Paul was trained further after his years under Gamalael. After his conversion he was taken off the map for three years until God had shaped him for his ministry.

Here are some links to evangelical seminary lectures. ALL FREE!!

If your going to school make sure the school is accredited. Most distance learning programs are not fully accredited since it is usually required that the student spend some time on the main campus for them to be so. Liberty University is in Lynchburg, VA and is fully accredited. I just thought I would mention that since someone mentioned them earlier.
It's wonderful when your a part of a growing good church. Enjoy everyday of it and be blessed because sometimes churches can be rough places to work. Will pray for you all and your decision.

Hi I'm new to forums but not to ministry. I am not from your country so don't know what your specific church requires, but Iwould say that if you feel called by God - both of you if you are wanting to do joint ministry, then you will be experiencing an overwhelming urge that you have to do something and that urge will not go away, that its the right thing to do and you have to do something. Equally you would not put yourself through the challenging selection process unless you had to! To do that you will have to trust and obey God and his servants in the church as to how you are selected and trained. That will mean stepping out in faith and looking for the open doors that will lead you forward. Talk to your church leaders for they will know which people to speak to and which doors to knock on. Then trust God and his Holy Spirit to guide and equip you in whatever tyoe of ministry you are being called to. you are in my prayers.May God's love surround you.

Start now. My advice for all people desiring to be in full time ministry is to start now. Sweep floors, help in the children's ministry, invite people to your house, pray for people, stay after the church service and fellowship...

You will naturally find what you are drawn too. We have a saying in our church that when an opportunity for full time ministry opens, we look for someone who is already doing it for free!

Hey Nessa,
I think the job at the church would be a good place to start. The most important step is the next step. As believers, we dont need to know the whole plan, just the next step.
