I'm no homophobe myself, but I do wonder why homosexuals bring so much attention to themselves if they don't want to be messed with. I find that often times when there's no debate or discussion they always want to start one instead of just leaving it alone.

Hmmm so as long as they don't let anyone know they're around they wont have any problems?

I'm happy to see this thread open again. I think that it is important to have the discussiong that reminds people that gay people are children of God, too, and also loved by him. I think people sometimes forget, or simply don't want to believe it. They are also one's neighbor, and to be treated into love.
 Very well-put.

No, it's just that I don't think it needs to be an issue where harassment isn't involved. It just annoys me when anyone seems to be playing their individuality for attention, it's like people playing the race card all the time to me.

It's no different than you describing any characteristic that you happen to have (for example, your political & origin of life views designated in your profile). You put them up to show people a part of yourself & what you're interested in. Someone telling another person that they're gay is absolutely no different than you telling someone that you're conservative, it really isn't.

Let me just say I'm quite proud that you have the courage to be open about your sexuality on here! It's greatly admirable.

Good day.

One's sexuality is NOTHING to be proud of. Doing what is right is it's own reward.

Gays should be famous?
tulc(...may have misunderstood what "celibacy" means) :sorry:

Hahaha. Only slightly. :p

That's why I promote celibacy for homosexuals

I don't even know how to respond to that sort of prejudism. Gay women & men (along with bisexuals like myself and transgendered men & women) deserve everything you do. End of story.

And of course they seem to want more than what they deserve

What they deserve?

They deserve to be respected and dignified as human beings. They deserve to have basic, inalienable rights (which is protected by our Constitution, in case you have forgotten). They deserve to live their lives in peace, not demonized every day by homophobes (and by some of our lesser "Christian" brethren).

And they've fought tooth-and-nail for that.

I don't think they want more they they deserve, they merely want as much as we have.

Note: I'm not getting mad at you, machzer0. It's just this society has gotten me frustrated sometimes.

You're not proud of being heterosexual?

What are you saying here? That homosexuals don't deserve to be treated without being discriminated against? Explain how homosexuals want more than they deserve.

If s person is celibate, they don't have sex. If they don't have sex, they cannot be homoSEXual. They can be only friends.

It doesn't matter if homosexuals don't have sex, if they're still attracted to people of the same sex physically and emotionally they're still gay. Not having sex doesn't change that.

Thank you. I get of people treating homosexuals like they want "special rights."

Pride comes before the fall. I'm not proud of what one is suppose to do. People deserve only eternal damnation. It is but through the GRACE of GOD that allows whosoever will... Nonsense, little boys love to play with little boys and little girls love to play with little girls ---- that does not make them homosexuals ---------- "Girls! Yuck!"

They want to assign moral equivalence between homosexuality and heterosexuality. In my opinion, they don't desrve said moral equivalence

Moral equivalence? I don't give a crap what your morals are & most, if not all, members of the LGBT community feel the same way. We're just tired of being treated like second class citizens. The LGBT community deserve marriage & all the benefits that go along with it. Is that really too much to ask? I'm sorry but your religion shouldn't even come into play in the debate of rights for the gay community.

Well on forums that are for debate and discussion it should be expected, especially when anti gay threads are so common. As for bringing attention to themselves. Most people don't in day to day life demand 24 hour attention to their orientation, however when your presence is often not allowed unless you pretend to be straight alternative events end up drawing attention. Our city has an alternative prom every year -- many kids opt not to start an issue at their own school by bringing a same sex date to their local prom... and the A prom allows them to be who they are, safely-- obviously the fact that everyone there is GLBT (or a supporter) means orientation is on display.. of course it's on display at the school proms as well.

Straight people draw attention to themselves everyday -- at social events all over, at their weddings, at their engagement parties, at their dances. People who are not straight who choose to display that fact are accused of bringing attention to themselves.
