First Mass celebrated in restored Notre Dame cathedral

The archbishop of Paris, Laurent Ulrich, on Dec. 8, the solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, celebrated the first Mass during which the altar of the restored cathedral was consecrated following the fire that ravaged the church in April 2019.

At the Eucharist, which was attended by the president of France, Emmanuel Macron, some 170 bishops from the country and from around the world concelebrated with Ulrich as well as one priest from each of the 106 parishes of the Archdiocese of Paris and one priest from each of the seven Eastern-rite Catholic churches.

The clergy wore chasubles designed by Jean-Charles Castelbajac, the 74-year-old Frenchman who was entrusted with the task and who has designed clothing for such celebrities as Madonna, Beyoncé, and Rihanna.

(Though I have to admit, I have a strong preference for traditional vestments with lace. )

It is a great day when one of the most beautiful buildings in Christendom is restored to its former glory. Credit goes to all of the skilled artisans that worked this magic. The vestments, however, are hideous.

It is good to see you also. Sorry for the late response, I have been pretty busy. I got a little behind and had to get my quilt blocks ready for Saturday's class.
I have been doing OK all things considered. I have had some health issues.

I remember visiting the Cathedral when Vespers were prayed in French...DEFINITELY ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL CHURCHES I'VE Ever visited. Period.

I have been doing OK all things considered. I have had some health issues.

I was wondering about your health issues. I have been doing pretty good. Just exhausted most of the time. My mother lives with us now and still taking care of hubby’s mom and her business. But God gives me the strength I need. Quilt blocks? Made a quilt yet? If so, I want pics. I imagine one with a sunflower pattern? How is your wife?
