First Date Tips

Hola people -


I am quite a dilemma... I am going on a first date tomorrow with a girl that I feel I am very smitten with. I met her briefly at a Barnes and Noble at the beginning of this week... She is the total goth girl that I have posted everywhere that I am highly attracted to.

She is extremely intelligent, and we exchanged emails and phone numbers to do something this weekend. Well, we got to know a little about each other over IM and we have very similar attitudes, into the same music and movies, have similar opinions about a lot of things... and when we have talked on the phone, we can just talk on and on and on...

Anyway, to make a long story short... We are going out tomorrow night, dinner and a movie and then ? (maybe a walk along the pier or something, I am not sure yet)

But it has been a VERY long time since I have been out on an actual first date with someone whom I am extremely interested in.

Anyone have any tips that they feel like throwing my way...

I would say that she might actually be into that if she didn't love animals.

She has fangs though.... like... seriously... her K9's are much much longer than normal and sharp. They're fangs... I think I am gonna see if I can have her bite me.

(i know that sounds really bizarre and weird... but i am just being honest )

Yea, I am sure that would be enough to scare most people away... but not me...

I am just so intrigued by her... in fact, the fangs for me are kind of a turn on.

(And for anyone who wants to know what it feels like to be a freak - just go ahead and ask me, and I'll tell you )

Anyway,,i think you screwed up a little bit doing the dinner and movie. Thats just boring. You can't even talk during the movie. I would go get coffee afterwards,, or go do something interesting. Unless there is some movie you both are thrilled about seeing, i'd be more creative.

I totally agree...you want to get to know her a little more, I would suggest finding out what she likes to do outdoors and plan something she would totally enjoy doing...

Well... she is the one that actually asked me to go to the movie... We both really wanted to see Alexander as we are each history buffs.

I am taking her to a really great sushi bar after that...

I pick her up when she gets off of work at 7 tomorrow night...


I was just trying to figure out what to do AFTER all that... I am getting the indication from her that she wants to be 'alone' with me, so I am just trying to think of good places to do that (i am new to this area)

I wouldn't think there are many people that frequent this board that are into goth... (with the exception of a few of the atheists that post in the GA forums)

I am not goth... I dress in abercrombie, quiksilver, express style stuff... but I love me them goth girls.

As far as tips..hmm, I was going to say, don't order spaghetti, but I think you said you were going to a sushi bar?

My main advice would be to compliment her and to open doors for her.

Matt, you've got me confused. Are you looking for good Christian advice or just general dating advice?

My advice for a first date is this:
Make her smile and laugh a bit. If she's not smiling, then she's not having fun.
If she's not Christian, then run.

I'm actually thinking that the advice that you're looking for is more of the Ross Jeffries type of advice.

I found that on that site. I disagree with that one in part, because if a girl can't take a joke that I find funny, then it's probably not going to work out.

I think that most people to things like this to 'test' their date, so that they will know if they will probably get along well in the future or not.

I agree with you. If a guy didn't at least try to be funny and crack jokes, the girl might get the picture that he had no sense of humor. Plus, its important to have a sense of humor that somewhat resembles your date's...it's a quick way to find out if there is gonna be a 2nd date....
