Firey Sun & Moon

(This one was taken about half an hour later after the moon was a little higher in the sky so it's not as red[/FONT][/FONT][/FONT]

What focal length lens did you use for those, or was it through a telescope?

I have just a standard UV filter on my camera - which I bought primarily for the purpose of protecting the lense LOL

it's just the 12x zoom on my Panasonic FZ30 - i was very impressed, though it made me want to go and buy the telescopic lense that's available for my camera - only the $300 stopped me

You have one shot that looks as if a power line is running through the bottom. Have you tried to clone that out?

I especially enjoyed the moon pictures... I love the orange color to them (you don't see that too often) and I love how you can see all the wonderful details of the moon's terrain in them! Excellent job

to follow on - the fires are still raging and today in the town I live, the skys went dark...

freaky day here today

This is the clock tower in our main street the clock tells the time, around 4:20 in the afternoon (it's summer here, and it was a very hot day, it should have started getting dark till 9pm)

just as one small area of the sky started coming back to lightness, smoke from a new fire started filling the sky. This view is from the 2nd storey window of the radio station looking across the street and across the top of the buildings opposite.

The smoke was amazing, it covered the sky like this and parts of it glowed an eery red - just like it looks in this pic, which is looking directly up to the sky - i was leaning out the window to get this shot.

After the smoke came a short shower of "black rain", it left stuff all over my car when it basically rained down ash along with the burn t leaves and ash that had been falling since the smoke settled over the town
