I just enjoyed the DVD of Serenity. This "Extra" material that is included on the DVD is priceless. Especially Joss' monolog that was obviously taped before a preview screening of the movie, prior to completion. He talks about the love and understanding of "Browncoats" being the power behind the movie being made of a TV Show that was cancelled before it every really got a chance. The scenes of the reception that Joss and the stars received at a "Comic Con" in San Diego and the comments of the stars about that reception are very heartwarming and worth the price of the DVD.

You will especially appreciate and mourn the deleted scenes that should have been left in for the real fans of the show, but were deleted because of those who would not understand the references to the show. The out-takes are a hoot.

Just finished watching the series on DVD. Only heard of it after the film came out.

After every show I sat and bemoaned the fact it was cancelled. The only good things about it that Sernity got made and the TV execs got a lesson to trust the judgement of someone as creative as Joss Wheldon. Any one who had the successes of Buffy & Angel should have had the backing to make atleast two series. Surley it wasnt that big a risk for FOX.

So waiting for the DVD out in Feburary

I saw Serenity a few days ago after watching all of FireFly. I am so hooked on this show, it's not even funny. I love the characters and everything about the show, WHY OH WHY did Fox ever cancel this GREAT show?!?!? :( I've never laughed so much from a TV show that isn't primarily a comedy.

FOX has a track record of cancelling popular shows before giving them a chance. It seems that there is someone at FOX who has a lot of say-so in making these decisions who has some rather strange taste. I can't recall off-hand, but my son and I were talking about this a few days ago, and we came up with a list of about 20 shows that FOX has done this to. Most of which, like Firefly never even got to air all the episodes that they still had in the can.

Talk about having a need for instant gratification. Or they decide that they want to make drastic changes to the shows that just make them completely whacked-out.

Serenity may not be the end of Firefly. Here is a link to an article regarding the possible return of the best SciFi show that won't die:

I'd love to see the series come back. Or another movie (though I'd like my Serenity fixes more frequent than movie sequels).

I keep wondering when all the novels set in the Firefly 'Verse are going to hit Amazon. Not a peep. Maybe Whedon doesn't want people in his sandbox just yet.

I need more Serenity. It's gonna be a pain if I have to write it myself.
