Feelings are not always reliable as faith believes for the good to happen, and the believer walks by faith. Fear expects the worse to happen, and God wants us to rest in His work done at the cross so that we can continue to grow up and move past the milk of salvation and on to the good works He has prepared for us to do in His will. For that to happen,we do have to repent of all known sin and try to turn away from it with our best efforts - one day at a time. This does not mean we will be without sin or be perfect, but it does mean we have to count the cost and be willing to enter the fight against our own sin nature with the new nature God gives the "born again" believer. Have you asked God to be born again spritually? If not, ask and receive from God, but don't expect Him knocking on the door of anything other than your heart and mind through life. God speaks to all people with life whether they listen to Him or not. The Bible says we will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit - the washing, regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Spirit (Titus 3:5). God gives us other gifts as well as we grow in His grace, unmerited favor, but they come with growth and by God's will - not always ours.
So, pick up the cross and follow after Christ by denying yourself every day of the sins and unbelief that besets all mankind and fight the good fight of faith. Come to understand that you do have power over sin by the blood of the lamb Jesus, who cleanes us from all unrighteousness if we ask of Him,and then keep your testimony that you will not give in or lay down in sin defeated. God understands how hard this battle is between the spirit and the flesh and gives us the grace to be victorious by having faith.
Ask and receive. Goback and repeat those first steps if you have to, but be ready to move by not only listening to His words, but by doing them. Sometimes, getting out and joining a charitable organization that does good works for the poor will break the yolk, sorta speak, and give a person more confidence in what they believe. Doing is more concrete than talking - especially when it comes to love.
Go for it and never give up - NEVER! His love and grace is the greatest thing to grow up in, and I cannot tell you how much blessing comes to those that obey Him or how much we miss by not listening and obeying.
John 6:29 Jesus answered and said to them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent."
I JOHN 3:16-19 This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and truth. This then is how we know that we belong to the truth and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence whenever our hearts condemn us.
Hebrews 10:35 So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you!
Galatians 5:17 The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions.
1Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight for the true faith. Hold tightly to the eternal life to which God has called you, which you have confessed so well before many witnesses.
Hebrews 11:6 And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.
John 3:5-7 Jesus replied, “I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit. Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life. So don’t be surprised when I say, ‘You must be born again.’
Luke 9:23-25 And He was saying to them all, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me. "For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake, he is the one who will save it. "For what is a man profited if he gains the whole world, and loses or forfeits himself?
