  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A good game (one of the best) was originally released for the Super Nintendo but is now available for the GBA (I play it on my DS, myself) It's about how the Gesthalian Empire is trying to conquer the world, and how they are rediscovering magic and implementing them into "weapons of mass destruction" (Inside joke---play for a little bit and you'll come to this part, haha!)
Your first character is Terra, who can't remember who she is because her mind was being controlled. She has a natural ability to use magic, and she has no idea why.
Basically, in this game, you will come to love some of your characters, and eventually you will really, REALLY hate one of the bad guys --- Kefka. I do, myself, because of later in the game (No spoilers here, hehe.)
Final Fantasy X is not a good example of a good Final Fantasy game, in my opinion. Personally you could do much better with either Final Fantasy 7 (considered the best game) FF8, or FF9. Those are my suggestions. My first FF game was FF8, myself, and I have been hooked ever since. If you like a good storyline, FF7 or FF8 would be the two to go for first, if you don't have a GBA.
Now, I'm done dorking out. Later.

(PS, my avatar in the upper-right is from Final Fantasy 8, of the main character Squall)

Yeah go with FF8 if you can find it....Also another fav of mine is Chrono Trigger...that one is on the SNES and it is a mesmerizing game...Or go with Chrono Cross the sequel on the PSX...also if you can find it...If you are looking for an easier game to play try FF12 as the fighting style is a bit different but a whole lot easier...Cause believe that ultima weapon on ff8 was IMPOSSIBLE...

I dunno...8 is one of the oddest systems around, and not exactly representative of a FF game.

7 is pretty good, but the learning curve is nasty and the objectives too vague. Don't hate me, but I think 10 is the best one to get started on. It leads you by the hand for a while, then sets you loose after you're suitably comfortable. Plus it has my favorite story out of the ones I've played.

Ill go ahead and get flamed here....FF12 is a REALLY REALLy easy FF game....the easiest I have ever played of all of squaresoft's or squareenix or whatever they are called...I have really only played FF1,3, 4, 7, 8, 10, 10-2, 12 and some of the other square games..Don't remember a whole lot from the snes and nes ones so don't quote me on any of them and expect me to remember...FF12 is a really easy one to start because FF7, 8 are kinda real hard...for me at least

i totally agree!
my first ff game i bought when i couldn't find an x-men game that i wanted, and the ff game looked good. (it was ff x-2)
later, my sis rented ffx, and i liked how they taught you what to do (as well as the game in general), so i ended up bying it. Actually, i am playing it right now! (taking a break from ffxii)

You need a playstation, at least, to play FF7 and FF8. They were pre-PS2. Basically---

For Playstation:
FF7
FF8
FF9

For PS2:
FFX
FFX-2 (Which wasn't as good...)
Not sure about any other titles for PS2.

Oh, that Final Fantasy III you are talking about is the FF6 for the GBA. It has one of the better storylines in the game.

don't forget about ffxii! (PS2)
