I loved FF7, I thought they pretty much nailed the whole magic thing with materia... I've only played 7 & 8, because I don't own a PS2... I had kind of hoped that FF8 would be FF7 with better graphics, and as a result was a little disappointed.

Out of the three PS FF games, I enjoyed 8 the most. My first FF and RPG was FF6/3 (us), that's still one of my absolute favorite games. I didn't care much for 7 though I did like playing the game. 9 was a good game, and I enjoyed it, but not as much as 8. I think I felt more attachment towards the characters in 8 than in the other two.

FFX is on my top favorites in the series though... the characters are great and the storyline is very compelling with interesting twists and turns. Maybe I'm just on an FFX kick at the moment. *is working on several Yuna costumes* =P

shame that ff7 wasnt actually finished.. they took something out before the release.. apprently there was supposed to be a way to revive Aeris, but square took it out before the release.. :(

i rekon they should do a remake for the ps2. imagine how good the game would be with the power of the ps2! or even ps3!!

but 7 is still my favourite of all time, with 8 coming in 2nd.

FFVII revolutionized the RPG genre to its current state (with 3d graphics, kicking soundtrack, etc). FFVIII put the fire back in it with its awesome CGI and special effects (like running through the garden attacks in the middle of a raid). FFIX brought back the crystals.

Final Fantasy VII has down has to be the greatest rpg ever. The story and gameplay has yet to be challenged IMO. FFVIII was amazing also, introducing a new style and look to the seris, and played great. FFIX was totally old school, I liked it, for the short amount I played of it.

I didnt know that VII wasnt finnished.... I wonder what it left out.
Technically, it was finished. The storyboard was done and major programming was completed. After that, during the polishing phase, developers and programmers decide if they should add stuff to it or not.
