A Place in the Sun which was based on Theodore Dressier's novel..An American Tragedy. I think this is one of the greatest dramas of the 50's if not the last century. Works for anyone at anytime. Acting is out of the ballpark..just amazing. And Elizabeth Taylor's most memorable performance, not to mention the handsome teen idol of his day (and mine), Montgomery Clift, before his auto accident which changed his brooding good looks. I have seen it many times and the story still grips..the movie is much better than the book. Shelly Winters (thin then) in a significant supporting role is alone worth the price of renting the DVD. :)
