FF7 for PS3!?

I received the August issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly today and read the following:

"Unfortunately, you probably also read how Square's president denied that the footage meant a remake of its colossal PS1 role-playing game was in the works. Put away the Kleenex people; I've got it on very, very good authority that the company is indeed bringing a visually updated version of FFVII to PS3. Any other details? Well, Aerith still dies in this version, so maybe you should keep those tissues within arms reach."

Holy cow if this is really true, I might just get a PS3 just to play this game. Can you imagine Bahamut Zero, KOTRT, Omnislash?!?!?!? AAAAAHHHHH!!!

There is a new FF7 game coming out something to do with Vincent

There are a few FFVII related games coming out:

PS2 is getting "Dirge of Cerebus" which is the Vincent story and a mobile one, something to do with the Turks. Advent Children is the FFVII movie and the FFVII seen @ E3 was a tech demo, nothing more.

But it would be nice to see a classic FF launch with the PS3.

What the article was saying in the magazine, is that he claims that according to a very very good source, Square is making FF7 for PS3 with updated graphics. Not a tech demo but the entire game.

Wait a minute... so are you saying that Square IS goign to make FF7 remake???? Is this 100% sure or just a "maybe"....

Because if they are making this for sure, I'm definitely getting PS3 no matter what!!!

Whether or not the source that the author of the article is using is 100% correct or not, I do not know. But he is claiming, according to his "very, very good authority" ,that Square is indeed doing a FF7 remake for PS3.

Could you inform me as to where this "source" is? Rumors spread like wildfire on the internet (look at all the stuff about Starcraft 2, and Ghost hasn't even come out yet). I saw the tech demo, but I also read how they weren't planning on remaking it. Are you sure you didn't misread something about Crisis Core instead?

Regardless, if they DID remake FF7 for the ps3, that would sell me over. That was hands down my favorite RPG and a remake would rock hard core.

I'm getting a PS3 anyway, since I can't justify paying for Live! on the Xbox, when I already pay for internet service. But this would be a top buy for me! FF7 was the first FF game I truly was hooked on. From then on, I am hooked on 'em all.

Qman reported the FFVII remake on EGM of August 05.

I can vouch for Xbox live. 50 bucks a year for a fantastic service to play Halo 2 on? Good stuff!

Square Enix confirmed that a Final Fantasy was coming to the PS3. What it might be is anyone's guess. You can bet that most of the FF camp would rather see a FFVII remake over XIII since XII isn't even out yet.

That's my point. Many games that are released go through so many storyboards its ridiculous. Halo 2, for instance, went through three or four before finally being released. There are rumors about that one as well but I won't go into that.
