When I say I'm a feminist, I am saying that I believe in gender equality. Equal pay for equal work. Equal opportunities for equally situated people. Now, I'm not saying that I don't see that there are physical differences between men and women, but I don't believe that should be a deciding factor in ability to perform a task. For instance, if one wants to be a firefighter there should be an objective tests that requires certain tasks to be performed. If a woman can do it, fantastic. If she can't, she doesn't qualify for the job. It would be the same for a man. I know several women that are physically stronger than some men I know. They should have the opportunity to use that strength regardless of their gender.
I believe that a man can stay at home with the kids just as well as a woman can. I believe a man can wash dishes and vacuum and a woman can do repairs around the house and change the oil in the car. Gender neutrality and equality. THAT is what I mean.
