  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Scripture says;

1 John 1:3 (NASB)
what we have seen and heard we proclaim to you also, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ.

“That our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ”

Are we, and do we really have fellowship with the Father and the Son. We as Christians are called to such a fellowship. This fellowship, this communication should be enlarging, growing becoming more real and controlling more of our lives. Whereby this communication should be conforming us more and more into the image of Christ. This fellowship of His Spirit and ours should by degree be taking over our life’s.

Scripture says;

2 Corinthians 13:5 (NASB)
Test yourselves [to see] if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you unless indeed you fail the test?

We are called as Christian’s to test ourselves as to the faith. To the end result we would know that of a surety Christ is in us, and living His life in and through us. It is by this one and one fellowship with the Father and and the Son that this is realized. How often we are to “test ourselves” as to the faith one can only say, it should be a on going testing, moment by moment testing. Running all our doings by the Father and the Son. That we would know of a surety we indeed have fellowship with the Father and the Son.

Blessings to all that would seek after such a fellowship with the Father and the Son. That we would know of a surety that Christ, Who is in us, is our Hope of Glory, was of a surety living His life in and through us. To the end result we would walk in righteousness all the days of our life’s before Him in love. Blessings to all who’s heart cries out, for such a fellowship.

Much love in Christ, Not me

Jesus prayed in John 17 to the Father Creator in heaven , that His disciples would

be echad (one) with Jesus and with the Father, as Jesus and the Father are echad (one),

so also the disciples would be one with Jesus and the Father likewise.

This is usually not recognized nor seen.

Isn't part of the test the prove of how we are living?

It should say “as to the faith” typo, I’ll fix it, thanks.

I believe you mean “proof of how we are living”. (if that is correct,) Yes, the proof that we are in fellowship with the Father and the Son would be we are “walking in newness of life” or in righteousness before Them, (hopefully) all the days of our lives.

Blessings.

You have no idea how I appreciate what the Lord has spoken through you today and the timeliness. I don't think an hour has passed that I haven't thought of this post and gone back to read it...to find a living person who knows only what I've read about and experienced very little in comparison to what is available, but for the tight grip on 'self' that I suffer.

"Are we, and do we really have fellowship with the Father and the Son?"

I go to Him, by faith, believing that I'm in His Presence, (not always aware of Him) but sometimes He makes Himself known.
But I don't think I could stand in His Holiness moment by moment in my present state. I've briefly seen His Glory and experienced the Love between The Father and The Son. It's intense, to say the least.

"This fellowship of His Spirit and ours should by degree be taking over our lives."

Please help me see what you mean. I am of the belief that our spirit is always in communion with His Spirit, always sees His Face, always in His Presence. But our soul is not. Therefore, our need to turn within...our attention, eyes, mind, affections, etc. to Him in our spirit, until it becomes 'natural habit' and with His grace, we are abiding in the awareness of His Presence within, hearing His voice. etc.

Blessings,
In Him

But I don't think I could stand in His Holiness moment by moment in my present state.

This might help;

Imagine how a dead person would/could stand before God? They could only come or “stand” before God, in the total nothingness of themselves. This is how we are to come before God in the total nothingness of ourselfs (being dead in Christ). For our salvation is a 100% free gift of love, from God to us. We need to accept His salvation on His terms. Which is the absolute nothing of us, and the absolute everything of Him. This is the absolute Glory and Majesty of our salvation we have in Christ. The all of Him, in the everything of our salvation. Imagine for a moment you have actually nothing to give God (for of a truth you don’t) but just for a moment imagine you don’t, and imagine God having everything for you. Now keep that attitude and state of heart, and present yourself as a living sacrifice before God, for that is what God requires. That you present yourself before Him as a living sacrifice so that He may do all that is required in you. For our salvation we have in Christ is as Great and Glorious as a Good God could possibly have made it. For the simplicity of the Gospel of Christ is simply to trust His Love for you. Always and forever to trust His love for you.

"This fellowship of His Spirit and ours should by degree be taking over our lives."

Please help me see what you mean.

You have mentioned in the passed about those “special times” you have experienced with the Lord. At those times there was nothing in or of this world that could hold a candle to the closeness you felt with Jesus. If you could have you would have permitted that to totally consume you or totally take over your life. This is what by degrees, this all consuming fellowship that was so real you could taste it. This fellowship should be by degrees growing and enlarging in our hearts and lives that we would be totally consumed by Christ. So that we could confidently say and know it was true by experience, “for to me to live is Christ, to die is gain”

Hope this helps somewhat.

Much love in Christ, Not me

Wanted to add that the anointing and comfort of this word is still with me.
I have and do present myself to Him every morning and deny myself/take up my cross...as you said, is the same thing, and have experienced what it is to sink down into nothingness before Him.
But your words about salvation and accepting it on His terms, struck something in me. I never saw salvation as you presented it or in connection with what I do. The experience of this mornings fellowship after reading last night was different. Beautifully.

Always and forever trust His love for you.

This is my favorite "Fellowship" verse:

Eph 3:9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:

Oh! most interesting translation. The phrase “fellowship of the mystery” caused a registration. Though other translations use the word administration or plan. I think the word fellowship brings forth a truth the words administration or plan do not. Definitely something to ponder and take before the Lord. For my heart tells me there is a truth couched in the phrase “fellowship of the mystery”.

Blessings, thanks for giving me something to chew on.

Interesting also is that the Textus Receptus is the only version that uses "koinōnia" and not "οἰκονομία". As you stated administration or management is used in most translations because they use other greek sources. The oddity is the KJV which translates "koinōnia" as fellowship and not communion as in the Corinthian letters.

A friend of mine presented some interesting stuff at a Bible Study last month on this topic. I just like how it flows in the KJV as fellowship, but I would be ok with the word being communion. In either case I see that Paul is calling us to understand and rally around the mystery he was given for us to understand.

Very well said, I couldn’t agree more. “rally around the mystery” (fellowship). I believe the more we understand the mystery of “Christ in us”, the deeper will our fellowship be.
