Hi Everyone!

I'm off again - this time to the Great Wolf Lodge! Its going to be fun. One of the rides is the Whirling Tornado where everyone is flushed down a giant drain (I'll be in the misting room while the rest of my family does this :D). I am SO looking forward to this day!

Love to all of you!

James 5:13 Are any of you suffering hardships? You should pray. Are any of you happy? You should sing praises.

A quick peek into James 5. I chose this verse b/c it's right where we live. I may not be able to get to other verses in this chapter, but this little one I can do.

When suffering prayer can sometimes be the hardest thing. My flesh wants a quick fix, so a trip to the refrigerator, a TV show, or a phone call to a friend is a pitfall to be avoided. Food will not meet my need, TV won't make it disappear, and while friends are gifts from God and turn us toward Him, they are no substitute. There is no counsel like that of the Lord who knows all things. Besides, He's readily available at all times. He neither slumbers nor sleeps, but is constantly watching over us.

I can think of countless times the ache was so great in my heart I could hardly bear it. I wanted to run. I chose to run to God. I chose to hit my knees. Sometimes there are no words. Thank God for tongues, for being able to pray out the perfect will of God. When we hurt this bad it is difficult to keep control of the tongue. Our thoughts are askew and it is easy to belch out stupid things, worsening the situation. Better to go in secret to God and pray the perfect will of God. Stay there till the release comes.

There is a time for the prayer of agreement. There is a time to find a faithful friend to pray with. Use wisdom.

This subject could be delved into at greater length, but I'll save it for another time.

Second part of that verse - sing praises if you're happy. :)

Sing, sing, sing! Praise Him, praise Him, praise Him!

I agree prayer is so important when we are suffering or gives voice to our heart cries when someone we love is in need.. I think sometimes when the suffering is so great.. You just cannot hardly speak and may not even be able to get in a posture of prayer.. Words are not even necessary or only one word.. JESUS.. God knows our hearts.. so if our hearts are looking to Him in our need.. He knows and is there for us..

YES I agree praying in tongues is wonderful!! My husband and children are getting more used to me praying this way.. Praise God!!

Happiness and praise go together.. Praising God gives Him the glory and when we can do it at all times.. it is a wittness too to those who know and love us..

Hi Friends!

I just returned from Great Wolf Lodge - it was fun, I ended up riding on all the rides and actually had a wonderful time. But I just returned home to some rather sobering news. Lena, my late father's wife, is hospitalized in an emphysema related coma. I think she's dying, and I'm not sure if she is saved. Could you help me pray for her? Also, please pray for me. I've always held so much resentment towards her and the way she "stole" my dad away from me. It sounds weird, but she created a real wedge between me and my dad that caused a lot of damage to our relationship. Even as my dad lay dying, Lena smoked up a storm without leaving the room as she normally did for everyone else. I felt as if she was trying to get rid of me. I thought I had healed from all this, but the prospect of Lena dying has brought up all my old wounds and resentments. I need a softened heart and complete healing. Thank you. Ral

Deep emotional pain. I too felt separated from my father when he remarried, but not to the extent you have. Though it is painful, it is good that it is surfacing so you can be freed through forgiveness. I pray a deep work in your heart takes place by the Spirit of grace. I pray she does not leave the earth till two things take place - she comes to know Jesus, and there is healing and forgiveness in you both. I pray for resolve.

And I pray for joy and happy things too in your life now so you won't be overcome or weighed down by this. :)

Thursday! We haven't done much with James 5, or 4, for that matter. What's up? With me, extra things this week. Even though we had no school Mon. - Wed., we've had appointments and.....stuff. ^_^

Though I may not post on the Word daily here, I am in it every day without fail. Psalm 112 was on my heart today. Yesterday I awoke hearing Isaiah 53:5 from the Spirit of God. O Holy Spirit, you are so precious. I've been reading in Philippians and that could very well be our next read together if you all agree. I've been reading about the prophets Elijah and Elisha, Kings Ahab and Jehoshaphat. Very interesting points to be taken in there. And James. Also chewing on Psalm 18. I never tire of it even though I've read it countless times. It's truly engraved on my heart. :)

Today I slept later, till 6, and went for a walk as soon as I had prepared things my hubby to get him off to work. I so enjoy my early morning walks in which I seek God and pray, often spending much of the time in intercession. That's when I hear things for you all, and get direction in my personal life as well. That's when I am lifting you up, plus other times in the day as the Lord brings you to mind. It's a wonderful time in my day I always look forward to.

Hi dear family through God..

Ral I am still praying!!

Thank you Cindy for all you contribute to this fellowship thread and for those of us who meet here..

I have only a few minutes.. could you pray over some sharing about the LORD I am doing on Face book.. Ha.. it is a group for sharing about people complaining over the price of fuel.. I think you guys call it gas over your way.. God has opened a door there.. I am getting a bit of slack.. but some how through the LORD I have been able to open a conversation there.. I just pray that the Spirit of God uses what I have shared to lead others to God!! Thank you..

My hubby and I are going out grocery shopping as it is my pay day today.. Thank YOU LORD!!

((HUGS))

Thank you for your prayers. I am feeling more at peace. Had a wonderful prayer experience with my husband last night. I wanted to pray for Lena but was having a hard time breaking through. So I asked my husband if he could pray with me. Suddenly, I felt the overwhelming presence of the Lord. It felt as if Jesus was standing right in our room. His presence was so big, and I was swept away by the intensity of being with Him. My husband felt it too, and neither one of us wanted it to end. We kept finding more and more things to pray about! The irony is that I've never asked him to pray with me before. We've always prayed alone. NOT anymore!!!

Peacechild, I'm praying for you. For wisdom and discernment, and for the right words at the right time that penetrate into the hearts of others. Blessings to you my friend.

Sorry Cindy, I haven't contributed much to the James discussion. :sorry: Umm... maybe tomorrow. I'm feeling a little wiped out today.

That is great, ral! Thank You, Lord!

What could be better? An intimate, powerful time of prayer with your spouse.
Send that anointing on over here. :D Did your husband sense the presence of the Lord as you did? Will he initiate prayer now, you think?

About James, I haven't got my whip out so you can breathe a little easier now. ;) Whenever you can.........

Same goes to everyone who visits. We're in James 5 this week, so jump in with anything the Lord lays on your heart from it.

James 5:1 Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries which are coming upon you.
2 Your riches have rotted and your garments have become moth-eaten.
3 Your gold and your silver have rusted; and their rust will be a witness against you and will consume your flesh like fire. It is in the last days that you have stored up your treasure!
4 Behold, the pay of the laborers who mowed your fields, and which has been withheld by you, cries out against you; and the outcry of those who did the harvesting has reached the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth.
5 You have lived luxuriously on the earth and led a life of wanton pleasure; you have fattened your hearts in a day of slaughter.
6 You have condemned and put to death the righteous man; he does not resist you.

This is a severe warning about the misuse of riches. It's also comforting to any of those who have suffered from their hands. With the gas prices the way they are, I say we all are.

What's fuel prices like down under, pc4? Has it doubled in the past year as it has here? Many people are suffering terribly, and many have their lifestyle crimped to adjust.

Back to the scripture. All those riches, yet they do not save. "Your garments are moth-eaten. Your riches are rotted. You stored up your treasure." This is in direct violation of Jesus teaching to not lay up treasure here on earth.
Matthew 6:19 Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.

He has a better plan.
Matthew 6:20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; 21 for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Does this mean we are not have anything of monetary value on earth?

Psalm 112:1 Praise the LORD!
How blessed is the man who fears the LORD,
Who greatly delights in His commandments.
3 Wealth and riches are in his house,
And his righteousness endures forever.

Deuteronomy 8:18 But you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who is giving you power to make wealth, that He may confirm His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

The Lord blesses the righteous. This is but one of numerous scriptures that teach wealth comes from the hand of the Lord. Or it can be gotten by self using worldly means. The issue is not having money, but the attitude of heart. What do we love more? What do we do with the money? What is our attitude to the poor? How did we get our money? Scripture is understood by scripture. Line upon line, precept upon precept. We must always rightly divide the Word, and must be avid students of the Word to do so.

There's lots more on this, and there's lots more in James 5 yet to cover!

So how's everyone today?

The Holy Spirit has been working with me lately on my attitudes towards money, so your comments are quite timely.

Prices of everything are sky-high right now, and I need to constantly remind myself to place value on the things of the spirit over the things of this world. We all want more, and we all wrestle with the competing forces drawing our attention. I've discovered that when I want more of Jesus, I no longer hunger for more money or wealth. I have everything I need. But when I move my focus off Jesus, I notice my lack....I need a new purse, a better house, a nicer wardrobe. If I pursue those things through my own efforts, I feel empty and even more hungry. If I surrender all my desires to the Lord, I no longer care about what kind of car I drive or how much I have in the bank. All these things may be added unto me, but it doesn't change how I feel. I still feel full in the glorious presence of the Lord. I'm learning that this is all that matters.

Fuel prices in Australia are sky high.. though I think they are due to drop a bit at the moment.. or so they predict..

Our elderly are suffering.. they just don't get enough to live..

Our family has been doing well despite the cost of living rising.. the LORD is surely blessing us above and beyond our means!! Even with my hubby off work we are doing really well..

It is a sobering thought that our riches can take our eyes off the LORD.. but I always acknowledge God in this.. always have.. I pray very hard and desire very much my husband see that our good fortune.. is not because of our hard work or smarts.. but because we are being blessed..

Yes Ral it is easy to get so consumed with our things.. and not think about God.. but when we make it a habit to praise Him.. that helps keep our focus on Him no matter how much wealth we have.. God is always going to provide for His children.. one way or another!!

Halleujah..

Yup, b/c we weren't designed for material needs to meet our spiritual needs. Many are trying to fill an empty hollow with stuff. Won't work. have to get more stuff.

I see the glass the half full, not half empty. I am so thankful for all the things I have.

Getting too tired to put thoughts together now, but I enjoyed your posts, ladies. I'm more in a read mode than speak mode. :)

Psalm 145: 5 I will meditate on your majestic, glorious splendor
and your wonderful miracles.
6 Your awe-inspiring deeds will be on every tongue;
I will proclaim your greatness.
7 Everyone will share the story of your wonderful goodness;
they will sing with joy about your righteousness.

The Lord is good! The Lord loves us so much, and He has faithful to perform His word. Yesterday a pain in my back appeared out of nowhere for no apparent reason. As time passed it grew worse until I was in fairly severe pain and limited in my movements. I didn’t want to do much, but sit quietly with my Bible and think on the Lord, or to sit with my family for a movie. I forced myself to go out for groceries. During this time whenever the pain felt more severe, I thought upon His Word - “He has already carried my pains and I am healed, “ and I would give thanks to Him for His marvelous work. Immediately the pain would lessen. The whole of the day from the noon hour on and throughout the night was like this.

The night brought yet another trial - lack of sleep. I’m not one to have difficulty in falling asleep but due to the pain it took two hours to fall asleep. Even so, I was not distressed for His Word comforted me. I enjoyed His sweet presence as I pressed in for my healing in believing He had already done it. I gave thanks, and He was so sweet. I was left with five hours to sleep in which the dog woke me twice, forcing me to fight the pain as I had to get up to attend to her. If that wasn’t enough, I couldn’t stay in any one position for long before the pain woke me and I had to turn, each time moving by faith.

I continued with every job I had to do around the house when I arose, still holding to His Word. I continued with exercise by faith, and of all days I broke my own record in the distance I ran! I didn’t only go a little further, I went much further! Glory to God! When I am weak, then I am strong. What I couldn’t do on a day I feel great, I did standing for healing. And it was not hard. It was not painful. My legs didn’t burn, my lungs didn’t burn, and my back did not hurt.

Isn’t God good?
Psalm 145: 8 The Lord is merciful and compassionate,
slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love.
9 The Lord is good to everyone.
He showers compassion on all his creation.
10 All of your works will thank you, Lord,
and your faithful followers will praise you.

Shall we continue in James 4 and 5 since we haven't posted very much on what the Lord is speaking to us? Is the Lord speaking to you there? Have you spent any time there? Have read it at least once?

No pressure, just trying to get a feel for what you're thinking.
