  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

As of recent I fell back into sin, and sinned over and over willingly and feel really guilty of this, I was doing so good! I was living a pretty much sin free life and everyday was so peaceful. Anyway fast foward to yesterday I prayed asked for forgiveness and plan to get right with God again no matter how dirty I'm feeling right now.. but what came back is now I'm missing my ex like crazy and it's been years since I've missed her like this. I don't plan on reaching out but can God remove this feeling of loneliness and missing my ex? Does anyone have any similar stories and how God helped them let an ex go?

When we experience shame, guilt, and loss we can draw several things from them. We can try to make amends where we can, we can be motivated not to do the same things again, and we can be driven closer to our Savior and his word.

However, an important lesson can be to use repeated failures to identify perhaps a new approach.

For example, in Galatians chapter five we learn of the contrast between a life lived in the flesh and one lived by the Spirit. Many of our Christian failings are a result of being too much in the flesh.

We often try to master the flesh through our own strength only to find that we repeatedly fail. One approach to putting to "death" the deeds of the flesh is to stop feeding it.

Rom 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

Col 3:2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

Rom 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Thank you for posting this. I have struggled with such strong feelings growing up and in the past, the situations I was in made me feel like it was all I ever wanted and never dreamed to get out. I chose to get out of this on my own, and feel bad about how I was not being my whole self and wasting my potential. I am better now, it is difficult to get out of the loneliness, but it is possible. I had to wait a long time and leave where I grew up, to find a place and people I can feel natural with and not so crazy. I hope you have patience in your life and wait to see what can happen, not to push so much but to look and be curious a bit. I am impatient so I had to learn this.

Hope you do it well.
