I am wondering if what I am feeling is some what normal for new christians. At times I am feeling overwhemled as I wish I could sit and read the bible cover to cover, as I want to know everything in it now. Times I am feeling a bit lost, as to what all to do now that I am saved (again) Also wonder how much to reach out to say the Pastor at my church and others there, in terms of wanting to deepen my faith and spirituality, with out being a pain or over steping lines. I need guidance, I know that, but I don't know really what I can do, or who to ask and so on. I hope a bit of this made some sense. Don't know what kind of answers I am looking for. Sorry to be so confussing.

Hi Dianna!

First of all, it is good that you feel excited about knowing more about the Lord, His Word and spiritual things! We are usually worried about people who get saved and then are not excited about "pressing in to learn more".

Next, your Pastor is exactly the person you need to talk to. Why do people always think they will be a bother to their Pastor. This is what Pastors live for (or somewhat live for :) Anyway, this is what he does! He wants to help you to grow and mature in Christ. That is why the Lord made him a Pastor!

Next, you need good fellowship during the week. Try to find a home group or bible study to help you know more of the Word! You will be growing and maturing in no time!

Bless you as you pursue more of Him!

I agree with the above post. Your church probably has many opportunities for learning the Bible, which you should try to get involved in. There is probably a Sunday School class you would enjoy, a Wednesday night Bible study, a home fellowship group, etc. Many churches offer a Bible Basics class or a spiritual gifts class for new Christians. Talk to your pastor and others in your church to find out what resources are available to you. Then take advantage of them! You will be amazed at how much you can grow just by being involved with other Christians and reading/learning the Bible together. I've only been a Christian for a year and I think I have already grown a lot (with still so much further to go, of course).

Good luck!

I guess I will feel I will be a bother to the Pastor, as I feel I am that way to everyone in my life, just an issue I have...lol

I will be having Bible study every Wed, and then women's bible study once a month. I will see my Pastor Wed. and talk to him.

yes, they certainly are normal.
i for one really fell away from God for a while, and just recently gave my life completey back to him, this embarrasses me but its true, and it may help me relate to you.

im glad i remember alot of things i learned back when i was on fire for God the first time.

its good that you want more of God, and we need pastors and people and books, and we need to use them as much as possible, i dont believe your pastors will ever be grieved by your great desire to grow closer to God.
i remember my good friend Pastor Mark, there were times when i was naive and didnt know he was busy, but he always had time for me, and i am greatful.
and your pastors want to be able to be there for you, they want you to want them to help you.
they want to be there for you.

but above all, look more to Jesus than you ever have before, hes the scource and the glory of your salvation and hes the one who will meet your everyneed and fill you with all power, virtue and wisdom, hes the one who will build you into who you need to be.
set your eyes on him, and not so much people.

your secret time in the word of God, prayer and worship, will build you more than anything else.

i remember john the baptist crying BEHOLD THE LAMB OF GOD!
and thats who we need to be constantly beholding, in prayer, worship and the word of God.
and know, the scriptures and truths that God shows you in your secret time alone with him, the changes that take place there, they go deepest.
your entire life at church, around other people, in public, it will reflect the quality and the amount of time you spend alone with God.
in psalms 18 the bible says God dwelled in a dark place, a secret place.
hes the one you need, and the secret place is MOST important.

you can be abandoned by all and be all alone, but if you have your secret place alone with God, youll be alright, and youll still fullfill your destiny.
your destiny isnt completely tied up in any man.

we just have to be careful, we can look to be people too much we want something so badly... but we have to be careful and make sure we arent looking for quick easy routes.

i remember a man i use to want to be around alot because hes such a great man of God, but there were times he wouldnt really pay me alot of attention like i wanted... becuase he knew i was looking to get something from him that i could only get from going through the same process alone with God that he had went through, he knew he wasnt my source. so he left me alone with God, and he knew God would meet my needs if my desire was truely sincere, and not just a shallow lust for a quick high.
so he didnt feel guilty for not talking with me as much as i wanted him too.

but pastors, they are diffrent, they are there, to be there for you.
but the greatest things you see in them... men didnt teach them those things, they got them in the secret place alone with God. it will be the same with you. becuase men can take what men gave, but what God gives, no man can take away.

Those feelings are perfectly normal. Definitely see about fellowship opportunities. Rest in that you don't have to read the whole Bible at once. Just take it one book or one chapter at a time, starting in the New Testament. You're over the fence, you've crossed from death to life (John 5:24) - so just concern yourself with getting to know God and His word better. He's taken care of your eternity.

Is that feeling you usual for new Christians? No............that feeling is usual for all devoted Christians! When you have good feelings, go with them, they are good. But when you have bad feelings realize that feeling aren't what matters anyway, faith matters, and do it anyway. I'll share this. Yesterday I wasn't feeling like doing anything for Y'SHUA but I decided to read the Scriptures anyways and after I just began to read I was greatly blessed and my bad feelings were turned into good. Pray that YAHUVEH will allow you to focus your zealousness where he wants you to.

You have the "first love" that God wishes we all would have. Your desire to know all about Him is wonderful. May you be blessed as you study His Word and asking for His guidance. When I first started the serious search to know Him, I asked for His leading, His guidance, His Holy Spirit upon me and was blessed with so much more. It is His relatioship that is ultimately the most important aspect of knowing God. Search the scriptures to know Him. Search the scriptures to learn how to draw closer to Him. Search the scriptures, seeking and asking for Him. He will bless you with truth and knowledge far surpassing that which your pastor can give you.
