• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi FSOTM,

I am truly sorry you are feeling this way. It's okay to take this to God too, He is big enough to handle it. Dont be afraid to just let it all out and tell Him what you're going through.

God does love you, even though it doesn't always feel like He does. Sometimes we don't know what He's doing, and all we can do is trust Him.

I'm still here if you ever want to talk.

I can believe that. It is all too common, sadly. Christians do not always do a very good job at representing Jesus and sharing His love with people.

Do you have anyone you can call or go visit and talk with about this?

Far Side, I have experienced this as well, more than I care to admit. The reason you can't forget Him is that deep down you know there is something real there, though you are at a loss to fully explain or understand it. God is so beyond our meager comprehension. As Scripture says, we see through the glass darkly; there's so much more than this life.

There are relatively few church goers who are the real deal, and their lives reflect that. The rest are no different than the general population, except that they are more hypocritical. Don't let these people rob you of the awesome privilege of following Christ and His teachings. He is who He said He is; they are not.

No not really... I tried apologizing to the person, and even telling them what offended me and they didn't want to hear I...i asked god to take the pain away, anger away and he's silent....so with no one to really talk to I've just been holding tho all in.Trying to forget but I never could.

Yeah its hard overcoming my experiences... If you experienced what I did ..youd know why I feel the way I do.. And its hard ,it really is. I just flip a switch and love God like I used to. There's trauma there. It is what it is

That's all you can do; and try to forgive your oppressors as well. It's difficult, especially if it's family or others close to you who should be there for you.

People do not always accept our apologies, that is out of our hands. You did the right thing, and God knows your heart.

I don't know why God seems silent so much of the time, but He does speak to us in His word. Have you read the Bible lately? You may find comfort in spending time with the Lord in this way.

You don't need to forget your pain. It is okay to work through it.

I think some of the time God seems silent, but He is not. I think sometimes our life experiences are screaming so loudly we cannot hear His still small voice saying the opposite of what our experiences are saying. Our experiences can say, "This will never work out. You'll never feel better." But God says the thing we'd never expect to hear. "I think you're great. I love you so much. I've got so many good things in store for you. Rest in me." Beth Moore says that if your experiences do not line up with what God says about you in His word, that you are the apple of His eye with a good, abundant life ahead of you, than your experience is lying. We are used to believing our experiences, but in reality, our experiences lie. Yes, they happened. But what they say about us is not true. We are made in God's image. God is for us, and He will complete the work He began in us. He will heal and comfort us along the way, because He loves us and has deemed us worthy of His love, no matter what anyone says or does to us.

I've been there. I tried to get rid of God. I even cursed Him in the face. I was looking the wrong way. I was looking at me and what I went through, but I didn't look at God and what He went through.

Try and imagine being the truth for a bit - and see that almost nowhere is the the truth purely nice or good down on this planet. Especially when there are humans involved. For example try live the consequences of a terrorist attack or a horrific plane crash, where the truth has become death and destruction, all because right has gone wrong and good became bad - light and darkness mixed together as one - producing chaos and destruction. Now satan is called the destroyer and he loves his job. So whenever he gets a chance bad will happen because wrong is around.

In my darkness I found Christ, or rather He found me.

Expect Him at the door of your heart, even now He is knocking on it. If you open the door of your heart then He will dine with you and you will eat of the hidden manna and be strengthened and comforted and much wiser than you were before you met up with Him, especially about what role He plays when it comes to your suffering. It is not for nothing believers call Him Saviour King, when His love begins to rule in your heart then you can also taste the goodness that is Him, and finally be able to overcome that cursed depression. However be assured He will humble you, and all your words against God you will spit out and denounce and you will mourn Him and loath your life in sin.

We have to die to what we have been taught by others, also and especially the bad stuff other people have done to us, and all our own misconceptions about God, ourselves and our neighbour. I know I did. It was greatest to get rid of my bad life, though it hurt quiet a bit cutting it out of my psyche, His loving truth is so incredible much better than life in the dumps.

I'll share you a poem I penned down when I was finally able to climb out of my fall in Him, it was an awesome moment.

Enjoy

Forsaking The Pit.
As I climb over the rim, I clearly see,
Involuntary I shudder the sight in me,
Down without a bottom the pit below,
Yes this fiery hole within me on show!

Hear voices of darkness pressing hard on must.
Those 'speaking guilt, shame, unbelief, and distrust,
All together pushing, yes, pressing me deep,
Resisting my climb to the top so steep.

See those guilty feelings still tug my feet,
I can feel flames searing, my toes they meet!
Electrifying my soul, no mercy on show.
Why ever did I take this hell-hole in tow?

Above me the Light, Jesus, the Truth so high!
How long before I will meet up with Him in the sky?
He knows I will come after Him without a doubt,
As true nourishing goodness He is all about.

My bloodied fingers scraped by rock,
For how many years did they mock?
Those hard places within my very being,
Those fiery stones of my own seeing!

I climbed after the Light right above me,
The only truth that truly leaves me be,
Never will I stop seeking after The Light.
As Jesus Christ is my very soul's delight!

Soon the 'resting place' of my enemy,
Bottomless pit shall forever be!
For the ones without Love or Grace.
Those who with their lies made this place.
