Feedback on Some Ideas

Hi guys,

I am a digital marketer and website designer from the UK.

I've recently came up with two ideas for websites I want to make/design and wanted to conduct some market research and see what the general consensus/need is for websites like these.

These are not for profit websites and I don't intend to use them as a business venture, they're more to server the Christian community.

Church Finder Website

The first website is probably the one I have the clearest vision for. I recently moved area and have been looking for a new church, there's so many US(A) based Church Finder websites but not many UK ones.

The UK ones I have found tend to list the more traditional church's only and as such finding a modern church or any church that isn't Church of England/Catholic/Orthodox etc has proven hard.

So yea this website would basically allow people to post on a directory and make a profile page for their church, displaying a bio, opening times, facilities, pictures, video and other key information and would primarily be for the UK community.

Christian Portal

The second website is a muddle of ideas and one where the vision isn't clearly set out yet. It will basically be a Christian Portal with latest Christian news, videos and other useful and interesting stuff on there.

Think online magazine or something like GodTube but with articles and more content. I've juggled with ideas to make it user generated content or just have a set of journalists or even a mixture.

I have even thought of possibly making it a Christian social network like FaceBook but for Christians, though I know a few of these already exist and none seem to really take off or do too well as FaceBook already has several Christian Pages/Groups and caters for this.

Those are my ideas though, what do you guys think?

Anyone have any experience in either of these? Does anyone think there's a need for these websites or could they be useful? Would you be likely to visit such websites or not?

I pray that your sites will unite folks there under a single banner, offering details on Christian assemblies and opportunities without the prosperity gospel or name-it-and-claim it folks.

Not in UK but...
Would it be more like an app where you can find the nearest believers gatherings in the vicinity.

What would it be called?
This site CF is kinda like a christian portal in itself. Your second idea is kinda hazy but i think there is a need for the first. One of my favourite sites to see is the mystery worshipper site (christian churches only) and thats seems to be worldwide.

I dont know where you can find all these christian journalists most of them, may be just ordinary bloggers, because christians that write for tradtional journalism would be paid off in some way. Most of the christian magazines i read where its denom based are really so boring! All they talk about is leadership and whats wrong with the church, no real evangelism or engagement with readers. Its very insular and navel gazing.

I think things do change when you get paid to write something in subtle ways. The Good News Is always going to be current though. User generated...kind of like wikipedia? That would be the way to go. People telling the world how they met Jesus or what God has done in their lives.
