• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I know we are saved by faith in Jesus Christ and only Jesus Christ. If I continually have doubts, does it mean that there is a possibility that I am not truly saved? I had a moment where I had obsessions and compulsions about being lost and it was so hard to cope. I, like no one, desires to go to hell, at all, and I feel that even if I commit just one sin, then I have to repent yet I have no idea how to repent.

Ummmm well with the faith thing your totally fine. When you do something that convicts you you must turn away. Condamnation and conviction are two things. If a bad act results into a positve one then God is using your weakness to show you He's perfect. It has and still is happening in my life. When we go thru the eating the meat mode it's going to be tough I promise you but you are saved I can assure you that.

Like you said, salvation is by faith alone. After accepting Christ, there's no need to worry about going to hell for sins you commit. As for doubting, I think that it's normal for human beings to doubt. In your case, it's magnified since you have a "doubting disease" (OCD). If you've asked Christ into your life and meant it though, then you're fine. The fact that you're concerned about the doubts and trying to curb them, to me, is only confirmation of your standing.

tonight I had a moment of complete unbelief. I'm feeling the fear. umm.... could use some encouraging words. I think it is forgivable, but I keep wondering.....

I was watching this show and these religious weirdos were pushing drugs and their messed up beliefs on to some naive girl. And I'm like, "I don't want to push my weird beliefs on to someone who is all easily led." It is just getting me. I'm like is complete unbelief forgivable?

I have had tons of doubts. For months i thought i was not saved and that Christ was coming back and leaving me behind. It was horrible. I started reading Romans and a lot of Paul's writing. Your question is,

If I continually have doubts, does it mean that there is a possibility that I am not truly saved?

Let's go back to - what is your salvation dependent on?

"...not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through FAITH in CHRIST, the righteousness from God that depends on faith" Phil 3:9

You do not team up with Christ for your salvation. The only thing I had was my sin. We contribute NOTHING to our salvation. It is ALL Christ.

Having doubts does not mean you are not saved. It means you are believing in lies that Satan has for us. The word of God is TRUE. Go to the word. Romans 10:9-10 is great meditation material.
