• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am having a problem. It is about a fear that I will be raped and that I am having thoughts about being raped. Rape is real and I don't want to be a victim. I have never been a victim and I hope I never will. Why do I have thoughts about being a victim of rape? Rape is graphic, disturbing, and just plain disgusting. I am having thoughts about that and I even see images in my mind about women who were raped. I am disturbed by this. What should I do?

Can you turn this 'curse' into a blessing? Just as Jesus united His sufferings to ours, we are called to do the same. Most people don't worry about being raped or 'see images..about women who were raped'. These things don't even cross their minds. So how can they pray for them? But you...you have an opportunity to not only pray for these women, but with passion and fervor! So take your pain and fear (which is their pain and fear as well) and immerse it in God's mercy and peace and continue to do that for as long as you experience these crosses and God will make you a channel of His grace to them, while at the same time, relieving your own anxieties.

Lord Jesus, by the envy of Satan, sin entered our world and seems at times to thrive. But we know that all things work together for our good. In crucifying Him, the greatest evil was perpetrated upon your Son. What sadness He must have felt! What fear! What rejection! But You, who are eternally good, turned Satan's persecution of Your Son, into a torrent of grace, mercy and forgiveness. Like Joseph's brothers, who by selling him into slavery, meant to harm him, so Satan, fear and sin means to harm Lik. But just as evil was meant for Joseph, by his brothers, You meant it for good. You gave him a position second only to Pharaoh. You enabled him to save an entire country from starvation and prepare the way for the Hebrews to come and dwell in safety and prosperity. So too, I ask You, for Lik's sake to turn those things Satan has meant to harm her with, into something good, something which will prove to be for her benefit and the benefit of others. Crush Satan beneath her feet. Make her, like Joseph an instrument of bounty for others who suffer. Help her pave the way for abused women to find a place of safety and prosperity in Your arms. Give them and her, Your peace. By uniting their suffering to Your Son's, make their crosses, their sufferings, a source of blessing, peace and healing for the world. In Jesus' Name, Amen.:crossrc:

Often women from religious households who are taught that expressing sexual desire before marriage is wrong will have fantasy thoughts about rape, even of themselves being "ravished". Since they are the "victim" of the mystery man's sexual desire, they don't have to feel guilty for the sex being imagined. I read about a woman who was so repressed that the only way she could have sex with her husband was to imagine that she was being raped.
