I have fear of a lot of things. Fear of embarrassment, fear of opening up my heart, fear of not living to my full potential, fear of vulnerability, fear of life sometimes.

We all of course have things that we are afraid of, but how do you overcome that fear? Has it been easy or hard for you? How do you cope with it?

With love. "18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear..." 1 John 4:18. When you know you will be accepted/loved, you feel safe opening up with someone. When you know God is protecting you, you feel safe going into battle. When you know that God is incredibly passionate about you, and that his opinion is what matters, embarrassment in front of people becomes less of an issue.

And of course, with learning about things we are afraid of can help too. If you are afraid of a snake, but then find out that the snake is more afraid of you, and as well that it isn't even venomous, then it becomes less scary.

I still have issues with worshipping without reserve in front of other people, and expect that this will probably be in my life for a while, simply because it's not on the "big issues" list of things to solve. As well, I'm not currently a big fan of swimming in open ocean, as I don't like the fact that there could be tons of stuff below me that I don't know what it is. And, if a demon physically showed up in front of me, unless holy boldness came on me, I might be afraid as well. I'm not sure, as it has never happened before. Not that I wouldn't do a deliverance if I had to, as I have seen them done before, but physically seeing something show up as a big ugly creature (even though demons in their natural state probably still look a lot like the other angels [just like sinners and saints look alike]) might give me a startle.

Part of me overcoming it is to confront it and deal with it. The majority of fears I've had are so common in other people. That fact comforts me. It helps in knowing I'm not alone. But, it also helps me in getting a grip. Sometimes, I've dissected a fear and had to break it down into what I was really afraid of -- sometimes, they are not one in the same. Other times, just talking about it with someone else helps shed some light -- because at times, the irrational aspect of that fear is brought into focus.

I usually take fears one step at a time and don't try to force anything.

my fears:

-i wont get to be a wife and a mother. (the two things i want more than anything in this world.)

-that i'll miss an opportunity to bring someone to the LORD.

i do know that my fears are ridiculous. they have no place in my life. God has shown my heart that i will be a wife and a mother. He's also demonstrated that even if for whatever reason, i miss an opportunity, He will work with me and relentlessly pursue my heart. praise the LORD!

when i'm afraid of something, i want it even more.
fear = adrenaline. and i'm a fan of adrenaline.
we all have the ability to overcome our fears. and i have faith in each & every one of you that you can and will if you attempt to.
