Favorite time period?

I think Baroque was the highest pinnacle of artistic talent in general. Classical was too rigid, and Romantic composers, still guided by neo-classical aesthetics, were simply too emotive (although I think Wagner's operas were brilliant).

BAroque and a bit earlier. Tallis, Byrd, to Bach, Telemann, Vivaldi etc. Amazing era.

I personally love the romantic period because the composers really started to experiment with the colours of the orchestra. Its magical....

The Baroque has it all.

It has the feel of a gracious by-gone age; the "multi-tasking" of counterpoint; the varied colour of traditional instruments; the liveliness and bounce of the culture at the beginning of the industrial revolution; the lack of overt sentimentality as a counter to today's X-Factor FaceBook strange set of values.
