This is my absolute favorite of all time, and I love praying the Midnight Office because I get to sing it! This is also heard at Bridegroom Matins during Great Lent.

Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia (x3). Behold, the Bridegroom cometh at midnight, and blessed is that servant whom He shall find watching. And again unworthy is the servant whom He shall find heedless. Beware, O my soul, lest ye be given up to death and lest ye be shut out of the Kingdom. But rouse thyself crying, Holy, Holy, Holy art Thou, O God. Through the Theotokos, have mercy on us.

One hears Your call in a wonderful composition of sounds. You open for us the environment of our future paradise in melodious singing in harmonious tones, in the height of musical colors, in the brilliance of artistic creativity. All that is truly beautiful carries the soul to You in a mighty call, and forces it to sing rapturously: Alleluia!

I used to seek gratification in many different expressions of artistic creativity during my lost days. I thank God that every desire in me for the beautiful and for the fair is wholly satisfied in not only Creation itself, but even in His Church! What worldly song could compare with our heavenly hymns? What portrait or painting to an icon of Christ? What tale of struggle, what arc of redemption, to the story of Scripture and the lives of the saints? Glory be to God!

This is such a beautiful setting. And I love the icon on the cover. I know it's the Kazan Mother of God but I've never run across this exact icon. So if anyone has, please let me know where to get it!

I don't know if Russian churches really chant the Psalms this way, but it's one of the most awe-inspiring things I've ever heard, with "alleluia" being chanted under the text of the Psalms.
