The Zero Hour series.

It's a documentary series that recreates the last hour leading up to man-made disasters such as 9/11, the Chernobyl disaster and the Columbine shootings.
Sounds intersting :0 Thanks for sharing!

Planet Earth - I feel like this almost cliche to say, but it's a great documentary about how truly diverse, and yet interconnected this planet really is.
Making a Murderer - They did a great job at exposing the flaws in our criminal justice system using a questionable case as an example. I think they did a good job at remaining unbiased, simply just presenting the facts.
Hellbound? - The history and exploration of the various views of Hell, and how they have impacted our faith and culture.
For the Bible Tells Me So - A history and exploration into the interaction between homosexuality and religion in the United States, and why it's become such a polarizing political issue. It also had a great hypothesis about the origins of homophobia.
The World Wars (2014) - A three part miniseries from the History Channel about both world wars and the time period in-between. It was very engaging, educational, great dramatization, and a fantastic job of explaining and showing just how interconnected the events really were, and how WW I really caused the situations that resulted in the second.

I used to have a guilty pleasure of watching what VICE media put out on Youtube, but I haven't had time to watch many of those for about a year. Another note-worth doc I would mention is the Ken Burns one that he did on the Civil War.

I like almost any documentaries having to do with history and the story of man...even if I have to dig through the agenda being giving (yeah, you can come up with whole cultures from a single piece of a skull and a toe bone that may or may not have been from the same animal). I still get to see the bones and find out about the other things they may have found even if my conclusion is vastly different.

One of the historical series that jumps to mind is Barbarians (the History Channel).

Ah. I've just started watching that, and it is good. :) One I watched lately that I quite liked was "The Pope vs. Hitler". You can find it on YT.

Watching it again now. It has been a while. It is about all the reasons why our Planet is special.
If you are interested in earth like planets. This documentary speaks to all of the things that makes our planet special. Why our planet isn't just a dime a dozen. Why our planet shows design.

CBC documentary channel doesn't seem to be airing the first two episodes right now, so I had to catch them on YouTube. :(

The last one I watched was a series called Deadly Journeys of the Apostles.

What are your top favorite documentaries? (can be any given number)

1. Minimalism: A Documentary About The Important Things
2. What Would Jesus Buy?
3. Food, Inc.
4. Chef's Table (more of a documentary-series, there are three seasons with six episodes each so far)
5. Happy

I highly recommend at least watching #1. It's on Netflix, and I'm big on documentaries that shine a light on consumerism in our culture. As a filmmaker, I really appreciate the quality of the production as well. It's a great all-around documentary and something that people shouldn't just watch, but also deeply consider how they can change their lifestyle.

All of them except #2 are on Netflix.
