Oh I remember an oldie but goodie!

Mondo Cane!

Interestingly 2 or the scenes I remember most vividly are not mentioned in the Wiki!

One of those is simply going to an open air market somewhere in the East where people pick out snakes like we pick lobsters in expensive seafood restaurants. Perhaps mildly disturbing, that is until the very end when the voice over says something like 'Those serpents considered uneatable are canned and sent to Europe and the U.S. as delicacies!

Here is one of my all time favorites- Called- "The Rocket Pilots, An American Adventure" from 1981. It covers development and progress on breaking the sound barrior and on to hyperspace flight with my favorite plane of all time- the X-15.
Have watched it dozens of times and it motivated me to go deeper and learn more about the program elsewhere.
Another good thing from this Doc.- It shows times when some of the brightest minds and all the money you can throw at it- can still cause failures and set backs. You are to be persistent and keep trying until you succeed.
At times when I am discouraged at a project or 2 of mine because things are not working out, I can remember the persistence in this doc. Highly recommended for all ages. If I had a son, I would watch this with him and have an indepth discussion or 2 afterwards.
Famous and accomplished people, like Chuck Yeagar and Scott Crossfield are interviewed.

Another favorite is this one covering the most successful submarine actions in history. No not the Germans and u boats ( they lost ), it is the American campaign in the Pacific in WWII. Very informative and a good start to learning more about this fascinating technology. Excellent and informative.

Here is another great doc on the first American offensive in WWII- The campaign for Guadalcanal in the southwest Pacific- Aug 1942-Feb 1943. Covers naval, ground and air portions. Great narration and very informative. Lots of important history here too. Not sure how many times I have watched it.

Another subject/topic very near and dear to my heard is drag racing and nostalgia Drag Racing in particular. I was definately born too late related to this sports as nothing interests me ( drag related ) unless it is at least 40 or more years old. The era from the 50s through the mid 70s was a special time. At least I get to watch it on video and the nostalgia drag movement is pretty popular.

This doc is from around 1965. How cool it had to have been around back then doing this!
