Sweet Home Alabama is classified as Southern Rock, but I find it's very country too. Hehe.

My faves:

Rock Bottom (Judds)
Love can Build a Bridge (Judds)
Why Haven't I Heard from You? (Reba McIntyre (sp?))
We Shall Be Free (Garth Brooks)
Gone Country (Alan Jackson)
Wine into Water (T. Graham Brown)
A Little Good News (Ann Murray)
I Try to Think about Elvis (Patty Loveless)
Mountain Music (Alabama)
El Paso (Marty Robbins)
Ring of Fire (Johnny Cash)
Tennessee Flat Top Box (Johnny Cash)
Chain of Love (Clay Walker)

... I'd better shut up before I name about a hundred. Yes, odd me. Being "goth" and having a country side too. Hey, I'm in GA, what do you expect? ;)

Slam Dunk Me Jesus Through the Basket of Life is the best country song title I've heard (but I ain't heard the song.)

Otherwise: I'm So Lonesome I Could Die, Hank Williams; Hickory Wind by the Byrds; and that song from O Brother Where Art Thou? by Alison Krauss.

I've always liked the original version by Bruce Robison myself.

Tim McGraw - All I Want Is A Life
Kenny Chesney - She's Got It All
John Michael Montgomery - Life's A Dance
Garth Brooks - The Red Strokes
Clint Black - A Good Run Of Bad Luck
Clint Black - Summer's Comin'
Collin Raye - Little Rock
Collin Raye - On The Verge
Deana Carter - Count Me In
Deana Carter - Strawberry Wine
Deana Carter - We Danced Anyway
Brooks and Dunn - Brand New Man
Brooks and Dunn - Red Dirt Road
Jason Sellers - I'm Your Man
Lonestar - You Walked In
Lonestar - Come Cryin' To Me
Paul Brandt - A Little In Love
Ricochet - He Left A Lot To Be Desired
Sawyer Brown - Some Girls Do

Tracy Byrd & Mark Chesnutt - Good Way To Get On My Bad Side
Ty Herndon - I Have To Surrender
Ty Herndon - Living In A Moment
Wade Hayes - The Day She Left Tulsa (In A Chevy)
Yankee Grey - All Things Considered
Diamond Rio - How Your Love Makes Me Feel
Reba McEntire - Fear Of Being Alone

(that's funny; most of them seem to be from around 1997 or 1998  )

I seem to remember liking Dean Miller's "Nowhere USA", but I haven't heard that song, since well, 1997.

And even though it's more folk than country, John Denver's "Take Me Home, Country Roads" is still on that list of favorites.

cheers for o brother where art thou, the movie and music. The song you might be thinking of is either "down to the river to pray" "I'll fly away", or "didnt leave nobody but the baby"

ps-"My Town" is sung by Montgomery Gentry. :)
Ahh that rings a bell!

Today my friend played some Keith Urban for me....and I really liked it!! One song was called "One chord song" and it was absolutely hilarious! Then there was one where he talks about money and cocaine and the chorus goes "You aint my god, you aint my friend, you aint walking with me in the end" - something like that. Anyone know its name? Also another one that starts out like this (I laughed when I heard the intro lyrics but its a good song ^_^ ) Aint got no money, got a hole in my jeans, aint got no job... etc. Pretty cool. The guy can sing and play guitar real well.

Oh yeah, Songs About Rain is one of the best new country songs in a long time! Though I really like "Whiskey Lullaby" too. But that's just the new stuff. But as far as my "favorite" song, though, that changes every day or two...sometimes hourly! :)...so I won't bore y'all by going into more detail!
