  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

my favorite composer is Chopin. I used to hate it because of the horrid key signatures most of his stuff is in. Then my boyfriend got me to listen to some of his stuff and now it's my favorite stuff to practice. Especially the nocturnes. Listen to his Nocturne No.1 it's so beautiful!

Wow what a hard choice? I waffle back and forth on who my favorite composer is, though I think Beethoven is my first and true choice. Not known for his religious pieces but all of his works are lush and rich and just draw you in so well.

He is followed by Mozart just for the purer genius of his work. I have had the pleasure to perform some of his pieces specifically, the Requiem and the Sparrow Mass as well as some of his individual pieces. Brilliance.

Handel brings up the third position. How can you not enjoy the Messiah. We perform this every year in its entirety and each time it gives me chills and such joy to perform this work.

Bach I have just start getting in to. I am preparing with an Alto his Tenor Alto duet from his Magnificat (BWV 243) and I find it just absolutely wonderful.

Schubert's music for Palm Sunday is a great treat too.

Look into some of these as well: Acrcadelt, Vittoria, and Palestrina to name a few.

Tough poll! I'd say probably Bach, given the options. I'm a sucker for his organ music, especially the Fantasia in G Major (BWV 572). Debussy's piano music is lovely escapism on a dreary day though...
My favorite composers of late have been "none of the above": Terry Riley, Steve Reich, George Crumb.
