  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Wooo! I <3 Beethoven! I really like playing his theme and variation pieces. Schubert is awesome, too. I am just starting to get into some of his stuff....pretty pretty pieces. And Mozart. But I really am not a big Bach fan. I mean, I like Tocotta and Fugue...even though its horribly hard to play...but his inventions just annoy me. Ick.

Has to be beethoven, he changed music history forever. I enjoy baroque music like bach, handel, vivaldi, telemann, but the orchestra was not fully developed until later. I enjoy romantic composers too but I find their musical ideas to be very complex, the music very long, and the music just seems to take on a different sound. Beethoven, perhaps began to bring about this change, while still being in the classical era, he developed some wonderful music ideas that were so creative and very different from others. Among his works, 9 wonderful symphonies (the eroica, and the chorale being the hardest one's to get used to because they are the longest and most complex, but wonderful symphonies after you get used to them), 5 opused piano concertos (he wrote one more that is rarely ever performed or played, 32 piano sonatas, eleven overtures, one violin concerto, one opera, and a whole lot more.

here, a short quiz, i'll come on tomorrow or so and reveal the answer.
Pretty much everybody knows beethovens third symphony is the eroica, and his ninth is the choral, and his sixth is the pastoral. But his other symphonies also have nicnames. His fifth is the fate symphony, he wrote it when his deafness was in an advanced stage. Anybody know the nicname of his seventh???
