Well, when an old trapper had company one night he had just taken a mouthful of food with his bowl shaped tool on a stick when a loon called out it's lonesome cry. The wife of his visitor asked, "What was that?" just as the husband asked, "What is that?" He sputtered, "sp...oon." The ensuing arguement was won by the wife and to this day we call spoons just that. And that husband died thinging that loons were spoons.
