Faith consists of three elements, knowledge, assent and trust.

Charles Hodge said, Faith, which is required fror salvation, is an act of the whole soul, of the understanding, of the heart, and of the will.
Man in his fallen state of mind does have the capability of faith. Assent to moral truth presupposes a favorable moral disposition towards the truth.

It is silly and nonsense to think that faith can ever be an arbitrary act of the will, that is: that man can ever believe or disbelieve because he chooses to do so.
Whenever a man believe anything, his mental state or act of faith is always determined by reasons which he deens sufficient.
It should be obvious that faith is always the involentary response of the mind to the evidence which has been presented to it. Faith is never the product of choice.

Faith always folows the judgement of the intellect as to whether a thing is true. It is never the product of the will.
Men never believe a thing because they like to believe it or because they resolve to believe it. All men time and time again believe things which they dislike intensly because they are forced to acknowlwdge these unpleasant things to be in accord with reality.
Psychologically speaking, saving faith, just as well as any other kind of faith, is forced concent.

Saving faith is not an ungrounded confidence or leap in the dark. Nor is it a wish.

A true believer entrusts himself to Christ just because he is thoroughly convinced of the trustworthyness of the gospel promises.
And this firm conviction is powerfully applied to the heart by the Holy Spirit.
The man engages in the supreme act of faith and trusts that Jesus will do for him what he cannot do for himselfjust because he finds the evidence in scripture concerning Christ, as the One who is able and willing to save to the uttermost all those who seek refuge with him, to be compelling evidence. So, saving faith is indeed forced concent.

So, through regeneration, the emnity (hostility) is removed, his heart is opened and made susceptable to the gospel meassage.

Why is the same gospel, which is the power of God unto salvation for some, for others a savor of death unto death? It is because the unregenerate heart is morally evil and decidedly hostile to God and to His Christ.

That is the cart before the horse in how it worked for me.

The evidentiary record in Scripture concerning Christ didn't give me to believe what I did not believe.
There was much out there to dismiss it. . .how could one know?

Rather, it was the powerful. . .breath-taking. . .mind-transforming. . .Spirit-infilling. . .testimony of the Holy Spirit within my spirit which gave me to know, beyond certainty, that Scripture is indeed the word of God. . .the truth of God. . .and the power of God.
THAT was compelling. . .to faith in every word of it.
So, saving faith is indeed forced concent.

Your view contradicts Jesus teaching. Here is how some would rewrite Jesus words below and add to scripture things that were never said nor implied.

Parenthesis is Calvinism false assertion below

Luke 7:50
And he said to the woman, Thy faith ( I have given you )hath saved thee; go in peace.

Luke 8:48
"Daughter," said Jesus, "your faith ( I have given you )has healed you. Go in peace."

Luke 17:19
Then Jesus said to him, "Rise and go; your faith( I have given you ) has made you well!"

Luke 18:42
"Receive your sight!" Jesus replied. "Your faith( I have give you ) has healed you."

Matthew 8:10
When Jesus heard this, He marveled and said to those following Him, "Truly I tell you, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith.

Matthew 8:13
Then Jesus said to the centurion, "Go! As you have believed, so will it be done for you." And his servant was healed at that very hour.

Matthew 9:2
Just then some men brought to Him a paralytic lying on a mat. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, "Take courage, son; your sins are forgiven.

Matthew 9:22
Jesus turned and saw her. "Take courage, daughter," He said, "your faith has healed you." And the woman was cured from that very hour.

Matthew 9:29
Then He touched their eyes and said, "According to your faith will it be done to you."

Matthew 15:28
"O woman," Jesus answered, "your faith is great! Let it be done for you as you desire." And her daughter was healed from that very hour.

Mark 5:34
"Daughter," said Jesus, "your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be free of your affliction."

Mark 10:52
"Go," said Jesus, "your faith has healed you." And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.

John 4:53
So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house.

hope this helps !!!

God corrects us all for our own benefit, so that we have peace that comes from doing what is right. Heb 12:11 The fruit that has God’s approval is sown in peace; James 3:18
You know the word which God sent to the people of Israel, proclaiming peace through Jesus Christ—He is Lord of all— Acts 10:36 Acts 10:42-44
He has given assurance to all by raising Him from the dead. Acts 17:31

Exactly, it makes no sense for Christ to commend any for faith IF God unilaterally determines who has faith.

Romans 10:17 says that faith comes by hearing the word of God and we all determine what we listen to. In each of the cases you present above, the person being commended for faith had heard Christ's preaching.

When Jesus preached in His home town in Mark 6:1-6, his audience did not honor Him which resulted in no faith and Jesus could do no miracles.
