The Dictionary.com definition of fate:

Fates Greek & Roman Mythology. The three goddesses, Clotho, Lachesis, and Atropos, who control human destiny.
Therefore I'd have to say "fate" is not a suitable word to describe the relationship between God's will and His children's response by our obedience or straying.
Fate says that everything is mapped out for us, and we are powerless puppets of the gods or some other force.
God says we have a mind and will to decide how to act, and that He will lead and help us.
God allows us to sometimes go the wrong way.
He also sometimes intervenes by stopping us, or helping us out, or by letting us find out the hard way.
But He is also able to bring out the best when we turn to Him for help.
Even in bad situations, when all may not be well, He works through our circumstances to bring about something that is ultimately for good.
Note, he doesn't say a bad thing is really good, but He releases the potential for good within the confines of the bad situation.
Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
That's redemption.
He also leads His children to do good things which he has planned for us to do, but still we choose; do we obey or not?
Eph.2:10 For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
God bless, Susana
