  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

How do people deal with failure?

I am asking because I failed a module at uni and it meant almost resitting the year. i was absolutely devastated. Then later i almost descended into a type of depression for two days where I was very low and quiet which is not like me at all. However once that had passed i began to think things through and began to sort things out. I have picked myself up and Gid has provided me with a job. I am a great believer in God doing things for a reason. I can also look back and say that it did wonders for my faith as a Christian as for the forst time i was forced to say "God I really don't know what to do" as up until that point i new what i wanted to do.

Is anyone going through failure? If so please feel free to PM me as I have been through it and i know how it feels.

The first time I failed an assignment in university I was a little bit stunned at first and then I thought to myself - that really wasn't as bad as I would have thought it would be. I realized then that while failing that assignment wasn't going to help my mark, it also wasn't going to totally destroy it, because there are so many other things that get averaged in. I can't say that I've ever failed an entire class, but if I did, I suspect it would be about the same - I'd be unhappy that I'd have to retake it, but I'd realize that I have plenty of other classes to keep my overall average at a reasonable level.

I remember a couple of years ago, I made a 33 out of 100 on a test. At first I thought what an idiot I am. But then I realized that I shouldn't let it get me down, and that I should just dig in and try harder. I could have dropped the class, but I decided to stick with it and study harder, and I wound up making a C in the class.
