Not at all. Everyone makes friends in different ways and any avenue that allows such connections to be built is far from sad. I think it is a fantastic sign of our wonderful times that people can do such things .

I had one for a month or so, but I really hated the lack of privacy even with all the privacy settings. It felt like a very lazy way to keep in touch with people and i'm much happier e-mailing or phoning people up, even happier if we can arrange to meet up and grab tea somewhere. I don't want likes and reposts, I want actual conversation and special catch ups with people I care about .

I have a facebook though, I have to keep it to keep in contact with some people. I was going to quit 2 years ago but one of my professors said we were required to have one for some online assignments. I keep it now as a way to keep contact open with people. I don't give my phone number or email out to a lot of people, so this works well.
